Default Jason's 2007 OBP STI(Aquamist update Post 10)

Hello Everyone,

My name is Jason and I picked up my 07 OBP STI in Feb 07 and have been loving it ever since.

Prior to this purchase I was involved with HONDA's. I had a 98 Prelude, 00 S2000 and 03 S2000. The HONDA's to me especially the S2000 had some nice handling and a racy feel. The S2000 liked to rev but in real world driving you just could never open it up because it only came to life after 6K. And after 6K you couldn't help feel like an engine abuser and anticipate that the engine was going to explode. So this simply became very frustrating to me and the little Torque of 156 at like 8000K started to show its weakness. If I had no traffic and a beautiful sunny day on a mountain road then I could have some fun but in reality that's not happening in Brooklyn NY. Also these were stock cars as I leased them so I never did any mods to them so after about a year I was kinda bored with it.

Since 2004 I've been reading about the STI and liked its performance but I still had this notion that 4 door cars were for families and could never be a sports car. And also the styling to me just had no appeal. But as I was starting to hate my S2000 more and more I decided to take a test drive in May 2006 to see what all the hype was about. And I was very impressed with the power, handling, room(compared to the coffin I was in). It just seemed as a more practical(AWD) choice for an everyday car with so much mod potential. And the look was starting to grow on me as well.

I made my purchase in Feb 07 for an OBP 07 STI. This is the best automobile I've ever owned. The Torque felt incredible to me, the Turbo Rush and the fact that I didn't have to rev the engine to death to make power. I have to say it did initially feel like a big boat to me with the bigger steering wheel and just so much more mass to throw around from what I was used to. Also the car had some compression and rebound issues. I've since became use to the car and the handling was fixed with springs and strut bars. The only complaint I have about the car is that I was a victim of the broken oil pickup tube at 19K, though luckily no engine damage and it was fixed under warranty.

The following mods I have:

Short Throw Shifter
Auto Dimming Mirror/compass
SPT Exhaust, Intake, Heatshield
Ecutek
Walbro Fuel Pump
Perrin Catless DP
Prodrive Springs
SPT Front & Rear Strut Bar
Perrin Turbo Inlet
TGV Deletes
PE 800 CC Injectors
Perrin Top Feed Fuel Rail
Perrin Front & Rear Swaybars & Endlinks
Goodridge G-Stop Stainless Brake lines
Motul 5.1
Prodrive Shift Knob
Protuned by AutoMaster
Agency Power Headers/UpPipe by AutoMaster

3/25 Aquamist in the process of being ordered
4/9 Aquamist installed/protuned by AutoMaster

It's great to have a forum like this. Looking forward to talking with everyone.

Jason

Hey Rob,

New pictures with flames have been added. After you hook me up with Meth I just might have to add more flames.

Luckily I rent an enclosed garage. In my neighborhood it's all parallel parking. You can spend your night going in circles around the block looking to get a spot, its crazy. And if your lucky to get a spot on the street it wouldn't be long before someone who can't park or doesn't care about your car whacks into your bumpers. I see new cars which shortly after parallel parking on the street there bumpers are ready for the spray shop.

Greetings,

My Aquamist kit has arrived. This is scheduled to be installed/Protuned by Automaster on 4/9. I can't wait, I don't think I'm going to be sleeping the next 2 nights.

Greetings,

On Wed 4/9 I went to AutoMaster to complete my Aquamist setup. This consisted of installing the HFS-5, Protune and 1 step colder plugs. AutoMaster was able to satisfy my request and complete this work all on the same day. They did this by assigning a few guys and working very hard. I can certainly say I was entertained during my stay, whether I was lounging on the couch watching movies on the Projection TV or checking out cool cars up close and personal like a 600+ HP Cobra that sounded like thunder, made the day all the more exciting. Then came the moment of truth as Rob handed me the keys for a test drive. As soon as I got on the throttle and the alcohol injected it was so much of an intense kick in the pants. I was grinning from ear to ear on the drive home.

AutoMaster did a great Job, they worked there butt off to get my car complete in the same day. They are very friendly and knowledgeable people and will do there best to make sure you are happy. In the end I gained an additional 20WHP and 60WTQ all on a nice safe tune. Rob said as also I was hearing on the Dyno that my car was experiencing wastegate flutter and could get more power with an external wastegate. Perhaps in the future that's something to think about but for right now I'm very satisifed with my gains.

Jason

Jason,

It was a pleasure to meet you. I am glad to hear you are happy with the car. It was an extremely smooth tuning session, but again with such a clean vehicle I would expect nothing less. I looking forward to the external wastegate upgrade and retune.

If there is anything I can do for you, give me a shout!

-Rob
