TomTom One XL Review:

This thing is awesome lol my only gripe is the battery.... it seems to drain WAY fast, especially since i dont have it plugged into the car or hardwired...
i cruised around with the software that was on it already, and it was all good....
It scrolls through the menus quickly, has large, easy to identify / read "buttons" on the touch screen, and a wide range of options (IMO)

Then today, just like 2 hours ago i decided i was bored enough to pop in the CD.... wow, bigger user manual and TONS of things i can download and change this thing is even better now lol, and i switched the voice to australian so it sounds like a co-driver in a rally lol.....
also changed the startup and shutdown images to a giant Subaru logo and the ass end of a WRB sti.... tried to take pics but didnt work out too well.... there are a few places i have noticed that dont show up on the map, so i'll do what i can to mark em and submit them to TomTom....

all in all, im VERY happy with my purchase SO FAR.... i have actually used it a few times when i needed it... i know it says not to operate while driving, but i have and its a little complex to multi task so i usually just ignore it....
i also think they should have added a battery life indicator on the main screen....

Got it for ~$270 after tax from Best Buy, and im planning on going back and getting the 2 yr. warranty thing they offer for another $30...

Gripes:
Battery Life / lack of life indicator on main screen
From what i could tell on the website and TomTom HOME, the safety cameras feature and the traffic updates are only available in Europe ATM.... hopefully that will change
IMO, its somewhat hard to find a good place to mount it.... right now its in the lower left hand part of the windshield, left of the gauge cluster. At night its perfect, but during the day, it CAN be hard to read at times, as well as reflect my skin tone of my hand on the steering wheel when its top left of the wheel.... Uhm, thats it for now.... i wanted a bare bones GPS locator / direction giver, and this has exceeded all my expectations in just a few days use.... The Nuvi (garmin or magellan, cant remember) was getting the highest reviews, but it had a TON of crap i knew i wouldnt need or use....

Novice school on saturday, and a race on sunday
unfortunately the competition wasn't too stiff.... just me and an 05 sti, but all i have is stage 2, and he had suspension mods im pretty sure.... my best time vs. his best was a difference of like 4 seconds, so im pretty proud of the win.... and he had more seat time than me the car has an unacceptable amount of understeer for me, but im working to remedy that now

Thanks I was looking forward to more stiff competition since there were 4 cars registered, me, the 05 sti, a 77 280z that beat the hell outta me and the 05 sti over the 2 day memorial day event, and some bmw... the z and the bmw didnt show, im guessing cause it was raining very hard in the morning, but we were lucky that it cleared up about a half hour before they sent off the first car

You don't drive that thing down 36 in the evenings do you? I see a similar STI every night on 36 towards Denver...

If you think AutoX is better than sliced bread, just wait until you try a HPDE/road course track event. That's PB&J on white bread with the crust cut off.
