i built my motor, bottom and tope end, reversed the intake mani w/custom piping and bought an ultimate racing 35r kit for less then that, including labor... but then again full race is OG status so thats not too cheap...

looks awesome blaise, they are really doing an excellent job on the install. One thing to note, however, if you do want to do time attack, you may want to consider using a twinscroll T4 GT35R. This turbo would boltup perfectly using the same downpipe and up pipe, and would offer a much more time-attack friendly powerband. the 40R is so ridiculously fast, it would be tough to drive in a time attack application, and annihilate your brakes

Hey Geoff,

I know the gt40r is your favorite turbo, but are their any Borg Warner turbos that are comparable to the 40r? The reason i ask is that it seems from quite a few forums especially now the supra forums that the Borg Warner turbos that are of similar size to the garrett models spool faster and make more power uptop.

sorry i wasnt able to respond to this post sooner. There are a few borg warner turbos worth considering and their latest versions which will be officially released in the next year or so will be seriously impressive turbos. The new designs are going to give the much more expensive garretts some competition, as the preliminary testing shows the BW turbos to spool faster, make more power, cost less, offer more durability and they are easy & affordable to repair or rebuild if you ever have a failure... very very cool
