Default Dante's 2008 WRB STi w/ Gold BBS's

Hey all, I'm new to the forum and new to Suby ownership. ATL resident, married, no kids, and I'm a corporate whore (Process Improvement, LSS for a large printing company)!

I previously had a 2003 Honda S2000 (Suzuka Blue). Purchased new and ran hard for five years. It was my daily, but I also autoX (SCR-SCCA), enjoy The Dragon (278 at Deal's Gap, TN), and track once or twice a year (CMP). Loved that car but it was time for a change. I'll really miss it!

In Feb. I purchased an '08 STi, WRB with the Gold BBS's. Loving it so far, but I'm only 850 miles in! Can't wait to hit my 1,000 mark and take her to The Dragon in a few weeks!

p.s. Did I mention that these wheels are a royal ***** to clean!

---- Modifications ------

- Kartboy SS kit installed! So far, I dig it. Don't think I'll do the front and rear bushings though, I think it feels great as is.
- APv2 running either COBB Stg. 1 93 Oct map or Perrin's 93 Oct map. Wow!
- Took the imprezza and Suby badges off the rear, took off the 6spd badge (interior).

Next up - Need some harness's. These stock seats are fairly weak IMO. Thinking about the Rallye 3's from Schroth. Schroth Racing Harnesses

Next year I'll go In-dash NAV, exhaust, gauges, sways and r-comps for autoX.

So far, no rock chips, no DTC codes, no problems at all except...

...power steering whine in sharp turns! Dealer is looking into it and they've had the car three times now. First they thought it was a pressure release valve on the p/s pump so they replaced the whole pump. Now they think it's actually a problem with the steering gear. That gear is not released to the dealers yet though! Gear should be released July 31st and we'll get it installed shortly after to see if that fixes the problem. No tactile problems with the steering, just the noise.

Other than that, I'm loving the car!

Edit: Dealer installed a new steering gear last week and the noise is reduced by ~90%. I'll consider this fixed... finally.

Thanks all. Quick story...

Last summer I was running my S at Carolina Motorsports Park (CMP) at a regular track day. After lunch I got a ride in a friend's wife's '06 STi. IIRC she'd done the access port, exhaust, and a few suspension mods. I'd driven a WRX before, but I was completely blown away by this car. For one thing, she was handling it like a monster. In the S2000 you've got to be pretty smooth with your turning and braking, but she was just beating the hell out of this car. Throwing it into the turns, standing on the brakes, and then clawing her way out. Not a good model for smooth driving but it felt awesome! From that first lapping session I knew my next car would be turbo'd and all wheel drive.

Step forward to Jan. when I was thinking of car shopping. First thing I test drove was the '08 WRX and I immediately realized that they had fixed everything I didn't like about the car. Shifter, clutch all felt better. Interior improved. I was in love....
