So are you going to be running the stock struts for awhile too or what?

That looks like a fairly major surprise!
Is that at Capitol Subaru, or another shop?

Why the devil are the control arms hanging down like that? Are the interior of the control arms the attachment point for the struts? that doesn't seem right.

i'm not a suspension geometry guru, so i'm not going to be making any guesses here.
if you want i can snap some pics tonight. or maybe their tech got a little happy with his tools and just removed more than he needed to

i'm about to take off, i hope they got everything bolted up again by now.

I'm guessing it's the latter. No need to take pics. I'll get my head underneath there at the BBQ (hopefully).

so, here's the long version of the story.

the guy who does the R&D for Swift springs happens to be a customer at my local subaru dealership, and he needed a car to do some final test fitting etc...
Justin called me, and we set it up for today. i dropped my car off, and they installed some fresh Swift springs on it.

i don't have all the specs just yet, all i know if that they are progressive, and do a very mild drop, nothing too drastic. i'll be going back there wednesday and meet with them, so they can make some more measurements, and get some feedback from me

from what i can measure, it looks like it's 1" in the front, and 0.5" in the rear.
they should still settle down just a tad, but i'm not expecting too much.

they also did an alignment after installing the springs;

left front:
camber : -0.8
caster : 6.6
toe : -0.01

right front:
camber : -0.7
caster 5.7
toe : -0.01

rear left:
caster : -2.0
toe : 0.11

rear right:
camber : -1.6
toe : 0.12

i'll be putting a couple hundred miles on these springs, and then have another alignment, this time giving my own specs, and "fix" this one

first impressions: VERY nice set of springs.
the drive from the dealership to the grocery store was smooth and uneventful, if i didn't know i had new springs, i wouldn't have noticed (apart dron the dip out of their parking lot where there was less bounce)

speed bumps in the parking lot feel much better now, it doesn't feel like the wheel "falls" down but rather rolls off the bump.

haven't pushed the car into a turn just yet, but it feel better planted for now.

okay, another crap cellphone pic...

i'm waiting for Justin to email me some of the pictures he took.
they parked my car next to one of their stock sti's for comparison shots.

more pics to follow.

so, yea; i changed my suspension plan.
i was going to wait for the TiC coilovers. but since i got this thrown in my lap for free, i could not refuse. and who knows, they may just work out great for me
