The car hates me today.
Had an event in NNJR on their little road course. I only got two runs before we had to stop but it was the longest I've ever been into 3rd gear during an autox before.

Now for the bad news. The car burned almost 3 quarts of oil in the last month. (I remember putting in a quart the night of the Iron Man premier, whenever that was) and I put in two more today.

Also, I have two CELs relating to a failed front o2 sensor, which I can't clear.

This is awesome.

I was hoping to go up against some serious competition at this event too, someone else's 08 STI, but he was there without his car because it was burning oil and blowing smoke too. I think he's getting a new motor.

That is not good that it burnt 3 quarts. Have you looked at Bytor's thread yet?

his car has less than 2k miles, he started a track weekend, but now his engine is down with a rod bearing failure. The dealership did a tear down, and found that he only had less than 2 quarts of oil. He checked his oil right before he got on track and cannot figure out where the oil went. I'm thinking that we got dupped again by Subar with the 2.5 l motor. I will check my car to see where I am oil wise, and will report back. Burning that much oil in so little time can only mean one thing, and that is you may have blown a ringland. The fact that your front o2 went bad as well means that it have been fouled out by the excessive oil passing thorugh your exhaust system.

Keep us posted, I would recommend taking ti it to the dealership on tuesday for a compression check on all cylinders, and powssibly a leak down test. This bull**** that subaru's reliability on an otehrwise stock car, actually on their highest performance car is going to ****. If my car goes through this again, I'm leaving subaru for good. My 07 blew a ringland and had to get the motor replaced. I don't want to be thinking about when the engine is going to give up on me.

After seeing threads like this I'm going to keep a eye on my oil levels as well.

So far so good... I starting to think the the stop sale might have some merit after all. waktasz what is your build date/serial number?

I'm definitely taking it to the dealer as early as possible next week and asking for a compression test at the very least.

I'm anxious to see what their diagnosis is. My VIN is JF1GR89698L822XXX.

Can someone link me to Bytor's thread?

So the 285 Kumhos fit, although my tire guy said never to buy them again.

Where's the damn front swaybars at?!

your tire guy didn't like mounting the 30 sidewall kumhos on the 8.5" wheel?

i don't blame him.

he's damn good that he was able to get them on!!

It only took him 3 hours .

It's his fault anyway. I told him we were considering the Kumhos for our next set but heard they were impossible to mount. He assured us he could get them on there.

he's pretty new to the region, he posted on our local forum about your car and some questions on 08s in general since he's a VW guy.

Well I'm not sure right now. The dealer said it was overfull by about a quart, which is my fault because I did put in too much last weekend, but I have added a total of 3 quarts so far so it should have been even fuller than that!

I'm keeping an eye on it and the "doctor" wants to see the car back at the dealer after 1000 miles for a checkup.
