From what I've heard talking to the Soltice guys, the 285/30 is really really tough to mount on a 8 or 8.5 inch wide wheel. The 295/30 fits the wheel better, but is much taller. Has anyone mounted any 285/30s on stock sized wheels? I'd like to see pics of that.

it isn't easy, but it can be done. Gotta have the right tire guy.

i could see it being nearly impossible on an 8" but 8.5" you maybe able to do it.

I forgot my digicam, so no high res pics or video from yesterday, but here are some blackberry pics.

275/35-18s fit fine, NO rubbing anywhere. 285/30s are next!

and a few from last week

Results from the NNJR 3-29-08 Test & Tune:

The times under EP were actually an AS Solstice, so we weren't the fastest AS car, but I think this car will be a great contender when it is more developed.

If I managed to avoid those cones I'd have had a decent finish. Stupid wide wheelbase!

First casualty happened today. We had a mini practice event in our region to test out the new timing equipment and stuff. I came into a slalom WAYYY too hot, and on my street tires in the rain. Oops

It was cold and the bumper is thin crappy plastic. I've plowed a few cones in my time, and my WRX never had this issue. Should I call SOA and complain? ha. The plastic fog light covers like to pop out too.

Jeff, this is Jay. It's nice to see you in an sti

I picked up my 08 last friday, and I can attest to needing a bigger front bar and definitely needing an alignment. The car feels much bigger when you drive it in comparison to my 07 sti, so it makes it feel a bit ponderous with the stock setup. I'm ordering the 25 m front bar this week for this weekend event in Danville VA. Initial autox impression reveals that the earlier years will stand no chance compared to the 08s when they are properly setup for AS.

Now I have to find a buyer for my 17 inch einke rpf1s and fresh v710s that I was using for my 07, so that I can buy new wheels and tires for the 08.

Good luck with the car, and I'll be up north in may for a couple of autocrosses

A quick pic of my 08 a day after I picked it up
