I'm just bummed that my wheels haven't arrived yet. I don't think I can wait for much longer. I may just go with something different.

Have you put your coils on the scale?

Great Journal, looking to do alot of the same things your doing to your STi. Great pix's & Info of all your mods... What made you choose those coils, over others? I was looking at the Tein Mono Flex or Flex w/ EDFC, so I can make it soft when driving day to day to work. Have you AutoX yet with these mods? I hope to Autox this summer. What web site do you order from mostly? Its hard to find a great price & vender that you trust. Again great work & a nice ride Bro!!!!

Thanks!

I'm not into autocross. I'm gearing up to begin tracking it on road courses. But since it's my DD I went conservative on the power end to maintain reliability and focused more on handling.

I chose the coils for a number of reasons. They fit my needs. If you do your research and identify what you value in a setup then the decision should be easy.

here's some info

Next weekend. The alignment shop I'm going to is backed up 2 weeks so I had to plan the install around that.

Nice coilovers! I can't wait to hear your review on how they ride. What ride height are you going for?

I've have had plenty of time to sit there and tinker with them, which is fun. But they need to go on. Install next weekend, then alignment, then it's time to review.

Steve suggested I start with 14.25" front, 13.75" rear. I'm open to more suggestions though. Not looking to slam the car.

Default Re: JD's 07 STI: 03/08/08 Installed the Cusco Mounts today

Finally got the Cusco motor & tranny mounts in today. Holy NVH Batman. The result is exactly what I was hoping for. I haven't had time yet to really get on it but after a quick spin around the block it feels amazing. Less drive line lash, more rumble, and I feel much more connected now.

The install was a PITA, but not difficult. I actually though it was quite easy. But I've taken the underside of the car apart several times.

I started by looking at this how-to: Cusco Engine & Tranny mount install guide. - i-Club

But soon realized that everything in that install is @ss backwards. On the motor mounts, he doubled up the washers on one side. In the two pictures where he shows how it didn't fit the first time, then once he moved the washers it fit... well, look at the pictures closely. it's pretty obvious why it didn't work the first time; he had the damn mount positioned the wrong way on the plate. Putting two washers on one side and NONE on the other makes no sense at all. I had absolutely no problem with the alignment by leaving the mounts as they came assembled from Cusco, with one washer on each side.

That how-to also does not show where to place the two large black washers, which are very important, that come with the tranny mount. They are supposed to go in-between the mount & the cross-member. There are also no torque specs for the through bolts on the Cusco mounts in that how-to; they should be torqued 30-35 ft/lbs. After about ten minutes I threw that guide out & just referred to the subaru service manual.

I just set my new TiCs to 14.0 front, 13.5 rear. That is the magic number for the best combo of lowering and best handling. Raising it up a tiny bit like Steve suggested might make it a little more driver friendly. On one really steep driveway I think I scraped my nose a little bit and the extra quarter inch probably would have helped.

I think I'm going to set it to try 14 front 13.5 rear & see how I like it. If it's scraping too much I'll go up a bit. It's the v-limited lip that scrapes. It's already scraped so I'm not worried about a few more scrapes.

How long does it take for the springs to settle?
