Default Bluedemon_II- Turbotektuning is choice!

This is my Journal!
Bluedemon_II is a 2004 WRB STI that at this moment has 44k miles. This is my third subaru, I started off with a GL station wagon make 1987. Then as a graduation gift i got a 2006 limited wrx. That car was like my baby and probably it is why I lost it the way that I did. And now i have the 2004 Sti which like most of us, began my addiction with performance.

At this moment I’m planning/starting my quest to build my engine to withstand many miles on a 400whp setup. I’m shooting up to this mark because I find that at this range there is still good spool and drive ability is still within limits of a daily driver and a weakened warrior. So far i have some parts installed and will be geting basic bolt ons and electronic gadgets as time passes by. As this project develops I will post my results and possibly some detailed parts review.

As suspension mods have the fallowing on the car;
DBA 5000 series rotors front
White line Sways front and rear
Goodrich ss brake lines
Carbotech bobcat pads

As engine mods go this is the setup so far;
Txs Uppipe
Helix Catless Downpipe
Custom catback with magnaflow muffler "looks gewd!!!"
Txs Dual Stage Boost controler
Aem Water injection runing 50/50
Green drop in filter
Sun Hyper Voltage
Sun Hyper Grounds
Cusco Oil Catch can

Other stuff:
Blitz Fatt turbo timer "tricked out volt meter "
Txs Knock lite "on its way!"

As of now Ray from turbotek tuning is my Tunner and im quite happy with the work he has done on my ecu. I sold the Cobb Ap to go with Open source since its a lot cheaper and yields the same results. Also i recommend Rays services to anyone looking to make power while having a reliable setup. Ray knows his stuff!

As of now I'm set on a dominator 2.0 or a 20g, But that is to come later on.

its going to be hard and maybe not the most DD "reliable" set up with a FP Green. I am going to try and get to this number as well but stay away from any adders such as meth as much as possible unless it is necessary. is cost an issue? if not and you are married to the "stock location" turbo then try looking at Dead Bolt SZ55 dam nice turbo and free rebuilds and spool is good although all you have to do is put it in 3rd on the highway and theres all the "spool" you need. also look at where you want 400 WHP. if you want it in the middle of the power band then alot needs to be done if you want it right at redline its alot easier.

if you want reliable, trade out #39 for a avcr or blitz or hks if you must have a ebc.i replaced my avcr with a prodrive boost solenoid and let the ap2 handle boost/ works great. the profec 2 is horrible IMO. at least it was for me

I'm aware that the best choice in this matter is to replace the solenoid with a GM or prodrive unit but; I want to have a tune with and without meth so for the "failsafe" to work I need a boost control unit that can have an input for this type of system.

I still have some doubts about the meth kit, I know how it works etc. but I still haven’t seen proof of the possible damaged it causes inside the engine. I won’t be using the meth map all the time, only in track/fun times.

In regards to the turbo I want to keep stock position/orientation. I was looking at one of perrin or UR rotated GT-35 kits, which would cut down the list of parts that I would have to buy independently. At the moment money isn’t a problem since this is going to be a slow project but I want the end result to be quite good.

DRK

I want to rev the engine up to 8,000-with a rev limit of 8,500. Do you think that the SZ will still deliver power up there? I know the green will fall on its face up there. I have researched some tings and I’m still on the parts data gathering stage.

I was looking at the SZ55 but I think that the spool will be bad at 1/2 gears, making the car a slugish DD. Any other turbo that can make 400whp with some effort, maybe a GT-30, 35? and still have a 3,500- 4,000 im looking to spool up 25 psi at 4,000 rpm if posible.

Maybe my goals are off but im attemting to stay close to that range.

Forget this, im going with UR Gt-30 kit, seams perfect for what im looking for.

I have a question, if i have a boost leak, could it be posible to hit target boost? My Ap reads that i hit 18 psi but in a 3 gear pull. But I kinda feel that the car should be making more power. I dont know if I have an exaust leak before the turbine. I replaced all my gaskets with Cu-Seal gaskets from crucial. I'm gona double check them when I replace my Thermostat this weakend. Performing a Compresion check in this engine is a pita!!!

Will a GT-30 Kit from UR be able to make the 400-450whp mark>?

yeah you won't get creep, it's all stock sized from dp back. you might be one of the few that don't get it at all. it will feel alot better once you get the catback on

Arrow Red Ligth Intirior Mods

Well today I decided to tackle my Hvac Red Light mods and came out looking flawless, but then i had some problems with the drivers window switches. The board shorted and now I'm looking for a replacement one. Instead of drawing power from the board I'm going to take it from the harness using the resistor and all. I don't want to fry up a new board and this method is going to look more cool at least for me. Pic's coming soon!

Here are some pics of my HVAC Red ligth mod on my 04 Sti

Here I took a red sharpie and painted each bulb. Thanks Kitsune for the idea

To avoid having it look kinda orange instead of red, I went and painted the back side of the translucent film red. The end result is good! Now i need to work with my Ic spray button and the head lights one. After that Il tackle my Armrest/window switches. Also will be adding some translucent tabs to the passenger side and see if I can get that one to work but I'm almost certain that I will . Sorry for the blurry pics... my camera ain't that god on closeups lol Also did the key ring but that did came out orange like and I'm gonna see if i can find some ting red to cover the bulb with.
