Guys/Gals

I just bought a silver 04 two months ago and now has 4k on it. I really like the new center console and the minor changes that they made to the 05 (and the fact that it will be a new car if I get it) . I installed an eclipse navi/dvdplayer/radio/etc MB quartz speakers all around, a 5 channel memphis bell amp and a 10 inch kicker. I also installed an HKS carbon/ti catback. The dealer is taking my 04 in without my mods for 27K and will allow me to take both cars in to do the swaps. They are selling me the 05 for 30920. Do you guys think I should go for it or stick with the 04?

mind, I bought the 04 cash for 29k flat with the following items included carbon fiber trim, auto-dimming mirrors and wheel lock. I had 3 auto-x evenst and one national auto-x event on the 04 and the stock tires.

Your opinions please

Default Going Wingless?

Hi, If you want to spend the extra monies I would go for it!

One way to look at it:

29K (cost) - 27K (trade in) = 2K + tax (example state tax=5.5%) at 1.6K = 3.6K + registration fees etc.

For 4K miles... comes to about $1/mile. By getting the 2005 you DO get what you want and ALSO a new car again. You should recover some of the 3.6K back in the future .... with the amount depending on when you sell the 2005 because of a 2005's value compared to a 2004.

...just my $0.02

Actually I would only get taxed on 2k at 6% which will come to about $120. But I definitely agree with you. It will be a new car all over again.

I've always come from the old school auto ownership school. When I buy a car, it's for the long haul (100K miles+). Why not just lease it if you plan on only keeping it a year?

Had bad experience with leases. I will never lease a car again. And after all the sti is not that much to be worried about leasing it.

You only get taxed on the difference.

I wouldn't do it, the changes in the car are not worth 3 grand to me (personally). But if you got the cash flow, and don't really mind taking a loss, and really want the new car, then go for it.

But, what are you going to do next year when the 2006 comes out in 9 months and it looks completely different?

Default Perrin Turbo back - what do you think?

Well if you paid cash for the STi you obviously have more than enough money, why do you need our opinion? Just buy an 05, take the hit, and be happy...

Same here. If you bought it cash, do whatever makes you happy If you were financing then that would be suicide.

My thoughts exactly. Wait until there are some real changes. You can see what the 2006's will be like while there are still some 2005's available in case you decide the 2005 is more to your liking.
