Thank you The STI is holding up darn well for this power on the stock block. No bull here. Will be happy to give the guy a ride so he can see for himself I still didn't get around to posting all the stuff I promised, getting married takes more time than I ever suspected Will post all that I promised this weekend if all goes well.

Yep, built 4eat and built H6 is in the works, although it won't happen for some time.. A huge twin-scroll turbo will complement all this and targeting mellow 800 horsepower then. Plans, plans

Default Re: GO-QUALITY: Video. 06 STI. 29psi. Stock Block. Stock Driveline. 9500 miles on set

2007-December-13

- around 9500 miles on the setup
- installed Skunkwerks (Secret Car Stuff) twin injection system
- running a very conservative 10.8:1 AFR
- EGT's at 1550 F at WOT
- running about 40% alcohol/water, 60% 92 octane at WOT - I have an alcohol funny car! Just kidding.
- around 110 octane at WOT
- 32 degrees of timing around redline
- running 29.5 psi boost, Element GT52 turbo does it just fine and is still efficient due to the tremendous cooling from the alcohol
- noticeable increase in power after install
- car runs perfect, will do another oil analysis, spark plug check and compression check within the next 1000 miles
- ran 15mph - 138mph in 13.15 seconds on a closed road.
- Stock clutch will not let me power-shift into 2nd gear after off-the line launch, time to replace it.
- with new clutch we estimate 0-140mph to be less than 14 seconds with shift to 6th gear. Will try in the summer.
- based on the performance we estimate horsepower to be over 500.
- shot a few videos (this is my first attempt at making a video) and put them together. See this YouTube VIDEO for sound and acceleration.

Picture of boost in 4th gear from some time in November. Still fine-tuning the boost curve for steady 29.5 psi tapering to 24-26psi at redline.

Sure thing, just let me know when you're in town.

We use kind of arcane methods of estimating horsepower here to arrive at any reliable figure. We base our power estimates on a combination of things since there's no dyno available. This "over 500" figure is at the crank and comes from calculating the amounts of air and fuel flown, injector duty cycle percentage, other cars performance, comparing power-to-weight ratios, gear ratios and acceleration of other cars, acceleration times to say, 100mph or 140mph off the line and from the rolling start and a number of other things including datalogs from several devices.

This over 500 figure may not be correct, without dyno I have no exact data. However 0-140mph in a 505hp brand new Corvette z06 is 16.1 seconds vs. under 14 seconds in the goQuality STI. Compare weight - 3350 lbs for Corvette with a 200-pound driver and 3550 lbs for goQuality STI with a 200-pound driver, winter trim and no junk in the car. Figure in the difference in gear ratios in the STI and Corvette and you will get the approximate HP figure for this STI. Let me know if you will arrive anywhere south of 500 Subtract about 65-70hp and you will get hp at the wheels, which may or may not be below 500.

I love the path you've taken with this car. Got any in car video? I'd love to see a speedo shot of 0-130....

edit: my bad just saw the video

Thank you man! I did not spend any money on the show mods, only go. And the tune and LOTS of alcohol make a world of difference. This car has a full year of road-tuning in it. I will shoot the speedometer video of 0-160mph acceleration in the summer with new clutch and summer trim (light battery, light wheels & tires). I also need to get a good camera mount, otherwise passengers can't hold on to the camera on acceleration

Is it possible to dyno-tune Subarus on the rwd dyno? Or the University lets you guys use their's? Or are you going to disconnect front driveshafts and dyno-tune on rwd? Just not sure what this RWD spool is

Anyway, I don't mean to say that Jarrad can't do good work. But I really don't think that after a year I spent road-tuning the car and fine-tuning it to be safe yet at max power, Jarrad can make my tune better on a dyno. I do know how to tune pretty good too, especially UTECs

BUT - I would be REALLY interested if there will be a way to make a few dyno-pulls with the qoQuality STI on an awd dyno!!! Let me know if you have access to AWD dyno, I'll come up when Jarrad is in town so I can at least meet him.
