This battery package comes with the lightest automotive battery on the market, weighing in at only 11.5 lbs (see photos at the bottom of this post), and all the parts you need for installation into your STI or WRX, including automotive posts and nylon spacers to take advantage of your factory battery mounting hardware (this can be modified for use in other vehicles). Since the stock battery weighs 32.5 lbs., you can shed 20 lbs. off the front of your vehicle while removing it completely from the vehicle.

How much is this lightweight battery package?

Check out our website for pricing: www.kingofimports.com

What are the batteries specifications?

Voltage: 12
AH: 15
PCA: 700 Pulse Cranking Amps (This is at 80 degrees)
CCA: 360 (This is only 5 less than the factory CCA; most lightweight batteries only get 280 CCA)
Length: 5.8”
Width: 3.3”
Height: 5.9"

The battery is suitable for use in Road Racing, Drag Racing, Rally Racing, Auto- Cross and Daily Use.

What do I get for that price?

The package includes shipping and is complete (unlike other lightweight batteries on the market) and includes:
  • 1. The automotive terminal posts and bolts - which can be mounted in factory location or turned 90 degress to the side, if in the future they wish to install the battery in another application.

    2. The bolts for the Posts.

    3. A High density foam spacer to prevent damage to the battery from the factory battery tie down.

    4. (2) Spacers to allow use of the factory battery tie down posts without having to modify them.

    5. Complete instructions.

    6. Braille Decals for the vehicle (these are out of stock and backordered and will be sent separately if requested.)

Why should I get it?

This battery sheds more than 20 lbs off the front end of your vehicle. That weight savings is substantial. More importantly, the weight is coming off the front end, so you will feel less understeer. In addition, that weight savings is almost double what an STI or WRX owner can save by installing a Japanese lightweight front bumper beam (which we carry if you are looking for additional weight savings; contact me) and does not require you to sacrifice the safety aspect of the US bumper beam. Not only will you experience reduced understeer, but this goes a long way to improving acceleration as you shed more weight from the car. Obviously the battery alone will not make a huge difference in acceleration, but it is a step in the right direction at a very low cost.

Will this work if I have a stereo?

Yes, this will work with a stereo, even an aftermarket one, but stereos over a 1000w should be used with a capacitor. (I had one customer buy two lightweight batteries rather than getting a capacitor, which worked equally as well). I would not play my Stereo with the car off because it will run down the battery, which can be charged back up, which would only require a jump.

Why am I selling the Braille Super Lightweight battery?

The Braille Super Lightweight battery is the lightest automotive battery that I found on the market. The vendor is easy to reach and most customer service oriented with no management layers that need to be navigated. The vendor stands behind its batteries, offering a one-year free replacement, and the battery has an expected life of 3-6 years according to the manufacturer.

This looks intersting but what is the trade off for having an insanely small, lightweight battery? If there isn't any, why aren't all car makers using this technology?

Do you know if this battery would be that great in wintery cold climates.

I can tell you that Braille offers a 1 year 'no hassle' replacement warranty. I have sold countless batteries to guys in New York, Wyoming, Colorado, and Michigan, and in Canada and Puerto Rico. None of the customers have complained of having any problems. All the feedback has been good. I questioned the owner of Braille extensively before I decided to offer their products and he assured me that the battery has been tested in cold and hot weather conditions and there were no problems.

Time is running out on the special price...

The battery may be light but could it adversly affect the overall balance of the car? This car is extremely balanced as it is. What may 20lbs off the driver's side do?

That is a good question. Since the STi has a severe tendency to understeer, removing weight from the front end will help counteract that.

Some would dispute that it is perfect. Many are looking to get the kind of balance that the factory seems unwilling to provide. The understeer effect is built in because Subaru does not want its customers going out and smashing up the cars.

The main focus is that this battery removes 20 lbs. off the front end. That is significant. It does not eliminate the understeer but it goes a long way to reducing it especially when combined with the lightweight bumper beam that we offer. The fact that it is coming off the driver's side should help balance out the car more, since there is an additional 150+ lbs when a driver sits on the driver's side of the car.

In other words, it does not matter that this is coming from the driver's side. I hope this helps.

this style of battery is used in yamaha 4 clylinder snowmobiles with 11.8 compression ratio, we put even smaller ones and half the weight again in these sleds to liten the weight, just cant crank it for 60 seconds at a time
