Default Defi guage help

Hi guys, i have a problem and i need some help. I am going to get 3 defi guages in an a pillar. I am getting boost and oil pressure for sure but my buddy who is a tech told me to forget about the egt and get a wideband. I will get the wideband but i still want to keep the flow of the guages in the pillar. I want to know which guage would you recomend and why would it be a better choice than the others.

thanks in advance
brian

Regardless of what your buddy says, Boost, EGT and Oil Pressure are the way to go.

+1. That's about the only recommendation I've ever heard for our cars.

i personally would get the wideband..an egt gauge is just a dummy version of a wideband gauge. egt is there to let you know if youre running hotter do to running lean. But if youre dont plan on tuning out any of the fuel issues that you may see with a wideband i.e. running rich or lean, than stick with an egt gauge. but..if you do ever plan on doing a tune properly to get your fuel curve correct go with a wideband

Why not go with both? I just put in the defi setup with boost, egt, and oil press and I still plan on gettin the wideband. All up to whether you're gonna do some serious tuning later on.

i want to get the wideband but the reason i am not sold on the egt is because i want to know if any other guage is worth getting? oil temp or water or fuel? If the wideband and the egt do the samething i would want to replace one of them with something else thats useful. That is where i am getting at and i need help with, thanks

Honestly IMO EGT is invaluable on a turbocharged car. It will tell you a lot about what is going on in the system.

Wideband is only really good if you're doing your own tuning. The EGT gives you hard facts about what the engine is doing.
