IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2001 Trader Rating: (0) | Are you kidding? I use mine all the time when on long trips. Thinking of the location, how can you hit it with your knee? I am sure you can just remove the lever if you really want to. You have to be the only person I heard of that hates cruise so much. |

| Amateur STI Driver | I also hit my knee on the lever, but I catch it while cornering. I was concerned until I realized that there is just a single screw holding the lever to the post, and a cable that runs up inside the post (probably for the on/off switch). I like having the cruise control, so I'm going to unscrew the lever and secure it to the bottom spoke on the steering wheel while autocrossing/tracking. I would guess that you could snip the wire if you want it gone that badly... ~ Rick.. |

| Grassroots STI Racer | Welcome Rick! You could cut the wires and crimp in male/female blade connects. That way you could reattach the cruise control stalk for the few times you'll ever need it. Eg. roadtrips trough Kansas. :P Just be careful you have enough slack wire to get the connects crimped on. In tight spaces I use a small pair of needle nosed pliers for crimping. Good luck |

I hadn't thought about crimping in connectors so that I can just remove the entire stalk--much better than trying to tie it to the wheel (probably safer as well). I'll certainly take a close look at this possibility over the weekend... | |

| Senior STI Driver | I have the same problem.. although I would use it on the highway. But I constantlly am hitting it with my knee...I would like to move it or something before I break it off one of these times getting in or turning. (it hits my knee a lot unless i'm paying attention and make sure not to hit it) |

| Junior STI Driver | I wonder if all of the wires/logic in the stalk could be moved to a different set of microcontrollers that would fit in a smaller space, such as an empty button beside the IC Spray. The microcontroller/inputs would need to be able to do : on/off, accel, cruise, instant off, decel and whatever else. I think it's possible (for an EE out there) |

| Senior STI Driver | my legs are super long is probably why i'm always hitting it. I'm 6'6". if they were a couple inches shorter I dont think I would ever hit it.. mabye I should cut my feet off. Actually if anyone has any ideas how I could make my seat go back even farther let me know..that would solve it all..exept for whoevers trying to sit behind me. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2003 Trader Rating: (0) | Thats so strange that you guys are bumping into that lever. I am 6'3 but I NEVER hit my knee on the cruiser control lever. Not even once. Maybe you guys should try adjusting your seat down and raising up your steering wheel. |
