Default An idea

As far as removing the gauge from the rubber pod, how about a heat gun?

I figured this will expand the molecules in the rubber a bit, so it's easier to get the gauge out....as long as the heat applied isn't too excessive.

Thoughts?

not really needed IMO

Just take your time, have fun modding your car. It really doesn't take that long, it took me a long time, because i put several coats on it, start to finish (i didn't care how long it took, because i was home for the day) was about 6 hours

You can probably do it in 2.....if you are in a hurry/worried about getting it done now.

I think you missed my point. I was refering to the removal of the gauge from the pod itself, not coloring the bulb.

Sorry, i didn't miss your point, but i didn't clarify.

Use a flat head screwdriver to somewhat pry the gauge out, then just pull it out gently by rotating it back and forth. It doesn't take long, hardest part is getting it back in, and centered IMO.

I dunno, based on the pictures, it's hard to see the needle, plus when it's white, it's easier to distinguish it immidatly when I stare at the gauges, might just leave it alone.

It's been a freakin week and my Hazard button hasn't arrived yet......

This thread never dies Jet, it usually floats in the middle someplace and gets bumped for questions

Good write up I really wanna match the colors in my car, I really don't wanna spend money on a defi set yet just becasue I have other mods that I think I would get more use out of but, this will suffice for now I hope. Idealy i'd like the whole gauge cluster on the dash, boost gauge and the tep knobs all the glow blue I think that would look really good, and be a bit more original any one try that or know some one who has done this type of mod, PM me with any info, thanks.

has anyone had any luck removing condensation from the gauge after putting a bulb cover on? I "redded" mine friday and the lower right has been fogged up ever since.
