Others have had this issue too, I believe. Read some of the earlier posts and I think someone talks about a solution for the 06s

Ok i did mine yesterday, after i took of the sponge thingy off the LED on the board i went and pluged it in to see what color the LED was... Turns out its a sick ass blue LED with a yellow thing over it to make it look whitish... So i left it. The blue looks really nice, only thing is i accidently broke the glass cover when i was taking off the face part... ill take some pics tonight and post em later...

Any way to change the coloring of the needle to make it viewable with the red color mod?

Not sure...when you take the gauge out the needle and face aren't exposed. If you wanted to paint the needle you would have to take the gauge apart further.

I never had any issues viewing the gauge at night after changing it to red though.

Thanks for the headsup. I'm glad to see that you can still see the needle... I coudn't get myself to do this mod as I suspected that it would be difficult to differentiate the needle from the background coloring. I might consider finding a way to change the color of the needle though when I take it out. Will have to debate on what color would best be suitable for the needle with the red background.

Well, let me also add the disclaimer: my car was only stage 1 when I had the OEM boost, I swapped in a Defi BF Imperial boost when I went stage 2. So I wasn't trying to read the gauge that accurately anyways.

Here's what it looks like, close up (more than seeing the needle, you just see that one of the lines is blacked out...get it?):

If you are willing to risk taking the gauge apart, some electroluminescent paint could be good

The picture isn't 100% accurate, as the glow from the gauge does light the needle up more than the picture shows.

I might chicken out and just take your route haha. I'm truly not one to claim to be succussful with adventures messing with paint and electrical ... I'm most likely going to take your approach and keep saving for the DEFI's (Have been for quite awhile haha).

I have an 06 but have the 05 Dash Pod in my car, lots of people tell me to get the defi thing but I rather waste my money on other parts so this mod will be perfect to shut them up! I'll post pics but... anyone think I should do I write up? I always want to get the job done as quick as possible.
