Yes, this is the same thread from months ago. People just ressurected it, and it has been "stickied"

Did mine a couple weeks ago. Looks great. I ran into a small problem, it was a humid night, so now the guage has a little fog and condensation in it. I'll just pop the light out and blowdry it out later.
thanks for the good write-up.

I know this is a resurection but I did a similar color change to the stock boost gauge on an '06 and there are some differences to note.

There is no longer a "bulb" style led anymore, the led is now a square pc mount type. There is a small "rubber" diffuser boot on the led that can be easily removed after following all of the above recomendations for removing the boost gauge and front cover. You can then paint the led with nail polish in any color you require. I painted mine blue cause that's what the GF had laying around and it looks beautiful. I will take a pic and post it here.

^^^That's really weird, is yours one of the late 2005s? If it is, maybe you got one of the "square LEDs" like bluebaru02 was describing in the post above yours?

I dunno man, unless someone else has been in your shoes (an '06 owner maybe?) I guess you might be on your own for this one... If you're willing to risk your OEM gauge then I say try to rip it apart, you can always get an Omori to replace it if it breaks Of course, it's always easier to spend someone else's money

hahaha, yeah. If i had the money for another gauge, I would sacrifice it. But its not really something i can risk. plus the needle doesnt sit centered when the car is turned off. It sits a little below 0

The front plate comes off with a little convincing from a thin screwdriver. You will need to wedge a flat screw driver under the edge of the cover and gently pry up. Do this all around the cover and it will pop off. Remove the gauge itself by unscrewing the large brass nut in the rear. To get to the PC board, unscrew the bolts from the two long screws in back and slide the plate out. Remove the rubber boot from the "square led" mounted in the center of the pc board. Paint the top of the led whatever color you would like. You may want to let it dry and plug it in before putting things back together just to make sure it's the color you are looking for. Reassemble the gauge and press the edges of the cover back down to crimp it in place with your screw driver. Install and marvel at your ingenuity.

You can adjust the needle by gently pulling out on the Bourdon tube when you have it apart. Do this gently as trying to get the bourdon tube to center the other way is gonna be difficult.

It really wasn't that much of a hassle, the gauge face comes off pretty easily and you just unscrew the large brass nut and the two small steel nuts and everything comes apart. A little fingernail polish and you're in business. I'll take a pic and post it here, sorry I didn't take pics of the process, I was usuing this thread as my guide.

Any updates on the 06 installation with pics? I guess they use a flat mount LED now.
