I think that getting the entire seat cover off and back on would be quite a bit of work. They are tight fitting and to pull it all the way back down over the seat back would take quite a bit of work, especially with a larger block of foam in each side bolster. The foam also wouldn't ahve enough structural rigidity to push all the way up into the bolster without pulling the cover off IMO. The pipe insulation is quite rigid and is pretty easy to push all the way up inside the bolster.

After almost a year of having the pipe insulation in my bolsters I'm going to put in a second piece to compensate for the compression of the first piece and to tighten it up again.

Default RE: I need a Cat-back....N-1 style

I just did this mod. Ran to Home Depot and got some 1" copper pipe insulation. I cut out and shaped two top sections and installed 'em on both sides. WOW what a difference. If done correctly, VERY precisely, you can't tell there's anything under there. I even angle cut the edges of the foam so as to let the fabric lay across evenly. I stopped along the line where the blue fabric ends and the black fabric begins. Any higher and you'll be messing with how your shoulders fit.

For the bottom thigh sides, I was able to find the wire support frame and bend it inward about 1" on each side. I also added foam like the top but ended up taking it out as the frame bend was plenty better. Here's 2 pics of the frame pieces. Be very careful NOT to SNAP these off!!! You were warned! The welds look iffy.

Here's an example of how I cut foam out for the bottom except I did this for the top instead.

This mod is very worth it. HUGE difference in my lower back lateral support.

Actually the wife has hit her noggin' on the window/seat belt dealie 3 times now, hehe. And I'm sick of gettin' punched and/or yelled at for it. Now I have to verbally warn her if I'm going to make an aggressive move so she can brace herself. Geez, I know. One of my buddies has also complained about the seats and says how much better his EVO seats are (which pisses me off to no end.) So I figure I have to share the wealth a little and make the whiners happy. I love you honey if you're reading this.

Just train her to lean back in her seat. Laurel's known this since I had my last car with modded suspension and Sparco seats. She sees a turn coming up, she instinctively knows to lean back and let the seat hold her in place.

Yukon,
I'll tell her to lean back...it's up to her if she complies. All I'll probably get is the "Why must we be racing wherever we go? Can't you just drive normal?" And of course she's the one that has demanded I put Stg 2 on her '05 LGT. All I hear is "Man I love my car, I smoked a ***** on my way home tonight-he didn't stand a chance!" Or, "Babe this cop scared the crap outa me on my way home tonight. I was doing ** in a ** and he was just sitting right there!" She says it's the difference that I know what I'M going to do before I do it...she doesn't know what I'M going to do so she gets thrown around a bit, hehe. I think I'll supply a helmet for my passengers from now on.

Default RE: Engine Washing

Here are some pics from my mod, inspired by the pics I saw on this forum.

The difference is that I pulled out the wires that held the cloth against the foam, and pulled the covers alot higher. Then I pulled the foam away from the seat, stuffed the inside (between the seat "rails", -- the one that holds the foam and provides "bolstering") of the foam with some viscoelastic foam, which I got by quartering one of those tempurpedic type pillows I bought from costco.

Now the seat feels similar to a the recaro type seats that come with VW cars, GLI and 20th av. GTI.

The bolster are still kind of shallow, but the improvement in the way the chair hugs your sides is a definately worth it.

Total cost: $25.00

[edit] i wanted to post pics, but got this..
