Default Question for DEFI users

I'm going to be installing a Defi BF Amber Oil Temperature gauge shortly. I understand that there are two ways to install the sensor. One is to replace the stock galley plug in the block, and the other is to run it from an oil filter sandwich adaptor.

Questions:
1) Would someone be so kind as to give me a part number or link for the 1/8 NPT -> 1/8 BSPT adaptor for the galley plug, since the one I ordered is too narrow to allow the sensor rod to thread through.

2) Would someone be so kind as to give me a part number or link for the oil filter sandwich adaptor that I will need to install this piece. I was planning to do the engine block install, but I'm over it. Either way is fine.

I've gone round and round trying to find this stuff and cannot find a definitive answer.

Do you have the Imperial or Metric Oil Temperature gauge?
The metric one you can use the Subaru Oil Galley Plug as it accepts the 1/8 BSPT.
But if you have the Imperials then you'll need to get a galley plug thats been retapped to 1/8 NPT.

I was confused about this myself, but I'm going to install my Oil Temp in the oil galley plug below the intercooler. And I bought this plug from WRXTRA

As far as sandwhich adapters, if your just installing the oil temp I say use the oil gallery plug.

I have the Greddy oil sandwich adaptor plate and it works just fine. Most of them are universal. It has a pre drilled/threaded hole for the Defi sensor without the need for any adaptors. I got mine from WorldOne but here is a link:

FWIW:

The galley plug is M18x1.5.

Imperial Defi's use 1/8 NPT threads, metric use 1/8 BSPT.

There you go:

WRXtra

We both have the same problem. My Maddad oil sender is NPT as well and the Subaru galley plug is BSPT.

To make matters worse, the sender is too big to fit in that area, so I bought the relocation kit for it.

I think you'll be fine with the modified plug they sell.

Have you ever had problems with it?

It has been recommended to my by several "authorities" to avoid the sandwich adapter route.
