I cannot remove the console trim to get to the shifter. Grrr! Has anyone worked on the trim in an '05?

It is different than the '04 trim, which was literally a snap to get out.

I'm doing the 20-file-per-hour download of the service manual this weekend, and I'll let ya know what it says when I get there. Probably tomorrow. HPH

Not exactly sure what you mean by the "trim" but to remove the piece around the shifter (including the ashtray and lighter) just lift up on the panel in front of the shifter. By front I mean the part furthest from the dash. It comes right up and pulls the whole piece away from the dash. I have a pic if needed.

I'm very interested in this info too, since I need to get to the cigarette lighter to wire my future boost gauge light wire and Qtec cutout switch.

NewToAllThingsSub.... it would be great if you could post up a pic of it.

I would imagine its attached very similar to the 2004's, so here is how i took the whole center assembly out of my car:

Open the map pocket, there are little black caps in the very bottom of that, remove the cap, take out the screws.
Hardest Part: The panel covering the e-brake which also has the DCCD switch & cupholder on the 2004 just pulls out. It comes out quite hard, and makes you think its gonna snap, but it pops out anyways.

once that is out, there is another screw holding the center console down. Remove that. Remove the shifter knob, un-snap the button on the shifter boot, lift up on the center panel from the very back part, and as you are lifting up, gently pull it towards the trunk and it should slide out.

Oh, you need to disconnect the plugs by the DCCD switches before you can remove it.

Does anybody know where is a good place to tap into for power? Cigarette lighter? A different location maybe? I'm trying to figure out where I can tap a gauge light wire to.

nhluhr.... got pics of the center console removed? The plastic in the interior is really cheap, and i'm afraid of breaking it... so it would be nice to know what it looks like before I go pulling on the plastic trims. Thanks.

I need two things wired in the car...... first is a greddy boost gauge, and second is a Qtec exhaust cutout toggle switch. I plan on just mounting the guage where the "P" parkinglight is, so I can run the vacuum hose and light wire through the steering column/dash location.

For the toggle switch I want to mount it next to the intercooler water sprayer button.... is there a power source around that area?

Here you go...

In the second pic, you need to remove the two screws and then there are two snaps at the top corners.

I was looking at their kits online and all I seem to see is the pocket kit. Does that include the kit for mounting the head unit as well?

Do you have a part number?
