Default What's your thoughts on the "One seat only" thing/Edumacate me on airbags...

I have the opportunity of getting a Bride Brix II for dirt cheap.

I hate the stock seats, but my wife can't stand aftermarket ones - even reclinable ones - she likes to curl up on those long trips.

Some people have the "can't do it right, don't do it at all" type opinion, but there is function behind my form, as I want a nice hugging seat, while the passenger remains happy with their seat (not to mention I don't have to spend extra money on two seats.

What are you thoughts on the 1 Bride, 1 stock combo?

By the way,
Can someone school me on the whole side airbag thing? Will I need some sort of resistor or something to put in the plug under the stock seat? Or do I just disconnect it and forget about it.

I don't think it's a huge deal - this way both you and your wife are happy.

I would take the deal. Who cares if they don't match? Are you going to any car shows? Be comfortable.

Just do it!

There has been talk of a certain value resistor that you can instal that fools the car into thinking the AB is still in but I never had luck with that....

Do it, do it. I've been planning on doing the same thing once I find a place to keep my stock seat (no room in the garage for it).

The driver seat is heavier than the passenger seat. So there's more weight savings to be realized by swapping out the driver's seat. Plus, one seat is half the cost of two. So for those reasons, and because I'd rather the passenger have a side airbag than me, I'd be all for getting just one aftermarket seat. It may not match, but who cares.

A 3.3 ohm resistor is what they say. I haven't tried it yet though.

By the way, I just looked up the weights of the stock seats on AnorexicSTI's thread to refresh my memory...
Driver seat: 47 lbs
Passenger seat: 42 lbs

you could always reupholster the passenger, rear seats, and door cards. Don't forget the black carpet.

I think I'm going to go for it....

So for those with aftermarket seats, what's the workaround for the airbag thing. Do you run a resistor? Or do you just put up with the light on the dashboard?

You can buy two VERY hard to find resistors from sojdm(Thats the name if i can recall). They come with instructions. Not too hard to do. You can actually cut the plugs off and solder then resistors on.

I run with one aftermarket seat and one stock seat. IMO it's really no big deal. I want my passengers to be comfortable and have side airbags. Also, not everyone can fit into a full bucket as I have, so that limits me as well.

Just run one Bride and one stocker...there is nothing wrong with it.

Do NOT just put up with the light on the dashboard...that means that NONE of your airbags work. People have been questioning this fact for sometime, but there was actual proof posted by someone a month or so ago that this is the case.

Just get a 3.3ohm resistor and plug it in - it worked for me.

That's where I got mine from. Personally, the extra money for the resistors from sojdm.com is worth it over the radioshack ones because you KNOW that they are the correct ones - no guess work involved.

i'm thinking of doin it to. but with a matchin colored blue/black seat. but i might just try and get some v7's. honestly if i'm racing, i'd prob take the passenger seat out, and if somone wants a ride, they can hold on

ok, so I was at a local electronics store and I came across a package of resistors. It was an assorted pack that included 2 x 3.3ohm 1/4watt pieces.

The Source By Circuit City : Resistors - 1/4 WATT 5% CARBON RESISTORS

2 questions:

1) Does the wattage make a difference? These are 1/4 watt
2) If 1/4 is good, how the hell do I identify the 3.3ohm ones. I know its the paint markings, which I remember learning in high school, but I totally forget
