IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2006 Trader Rating: (7) | Now that it's getting cold around here, I have to use the heater more frequently...high of 9F today. Problem is, in the mornings I get a sheet of frost/ice on the inside of the windshield and windows. Is this due to a bad window seal somewhere or should I be using the ac system when I use the heater to get rid of the moisture? I can deal with frost on the outside, but i hate leaving the car running for 5 min just to get the inside of the windows to de-frost.Suggestions? This ad is not endorsed by this member. The moisture in the carpet/seats/floormats/etc usually doesn't evaporate immediately and causes condensation on the inside of the car. Not sure if this is relevant to you, but its one of the probable causes. |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2006 Trader Rating: (2) | Hey dude, come on, you're around F18's all day, you should know about condensation nuclei ![]() For frost to form, the moisture needs to latch onto something in order to condense - ie dust or dirt. 1st thing, give the inside of the windows a thorough cleaning. That will help a lot. 2nd, do you have a garage? If so, leave a window cracked open during the night. Frost also forms because the moisture given off by your body, or melted snow in your floormats is trapped inside the car and condenses on your windshield. Cracking a window equalizes the humidity with the outside air. 3rd - as others have said, change your cabin filter - lessen the dirt that I mentioned before. |

if the car is going to dry itself out, the best settings would be to use the AC, max heat, max fan, and recycle; this way, the AC keeps recycling the air that it has partially dried already and it will wick more moisture from the inside of the car. again, this is with the car running and no one in it. if you are in the car, and use the AC, i also use the outside air. | |
