In some cases you may a bit more for the car than you thought you'd get. there was a guy on this forum i think, that got 19K for his car that he owed 13K for. he won out. most of the time it's the other way around.

i work in this industry i see this happen every day. they will only pay what they/you agreed to at the signing of the policy. unless you told them about the toys then, i doubt that you'll get $$ for it. don't get me wrong, i hope you do, and i'm sorry you wrecked. at least you're ok.

try estimating what you had in it and see if you can tip toe that amount to your agent, and see what he/she says.

if you have any other q's and would like to ask me directly, PM me.

good luck man.

You basically said I was wrong, then said the exact same thing that I did... strange

I am sorry, but you got no love or sympathy here.

Will see I think insurance will pay for some, they have been cool and we have a balloon insurance plan.

As for letting someone drive it I was drinking so I didn't think I should drive, and it was my best friend who has driven the car a fair am. he just made a huge mistake.

I just don't want the car back, insurance is going to pay like 18-19 to fix it. Retarded. It will never be the same.

sorry for the mix up HC. i quoted one thing that you said and said that was incorrect. the part about 99% of companies would be ok with covering parts. i see now, that i mis-read your post. i'm a dummy.

I spent 7K on my Last STi.

I got back 1000$ for the mods. After a TON of arguing with my claims agent. Absolutely do not accept the first FMS value they give for your STi.

The claims agent came over to my house to give me the check one afternoon. They actually take an Average price of STi's from Privae sellers AND dealerships then determine an averaged out FMS value. I looked through those values and was like...**** YOU!!

I could tell about 4-5 of them were regular WRX's. Finally they gave me an acceptable FMS price. I was so pissed. Everybpdy on this site helped me a lot though Thanks again everyone.

that's good news Jerm. at least that is sign of moving in the right direction. if they baulk and don't wanna cover your mods, AND they don't total your car out. maybe you can put together a list of costs associated with rebuilding your car. I bet if you get the costs from a dealership for all brand new parts, you'll probably come out ahead. one can hope.

let's up know that is up with their answer. this is a cool little case study.

NEON Rental FTW!

I dumped the neon and bought a 97 impreza for 3grand. Still waiting on insurance so far they have agreed they would value my mods some what at least, however they have only given me kbb for the car, and nothing for the mods. So it's still in the works. That being said i'm really upset with them.

They are dinging my car 400 for busted windshield I would pay 100 deductible to fix. Just total bull****, and then said my new tires were @60 percent tread, however I had them on for 3 weeks.
