none. i get a small discount for having a renters policy ($80 or so). other than that, a clean recent driving record (lost my license when i was 17!) and living in a decent neighborhood. a lot of guys just dont call around enough. for my bike (06 triumph daytona 675, hard to insure!) i got quotes anywhere from $550 a year full coverage to $2,500 a year full coverage!

call as many places as you can. when i was younger i switched yearly because the price changes a lot and some companies are cheaper for some circumstances and others are cheaper the next year for something slightly different. it sucks, but you can save a lot if you spend a couple hours calling around.

yea i was with progressive for like 3-years, then got better price on e-surance when adding a 2nd car so switched, then their rates went up 300/year for no reason, no change in coverage, so switched to geico just the other day.

I think I've posted before:

Full coverage, $100 deductibles for comp and collision (as low as AAA will allow), 32, clean record for a long long long time (knock on wood), and I pay $88 a month. I'd pay less if I lived just a bit farther north, as I am too close to Metro Detroit in the eyes of insurance. I moved north of 13 Mile and it'd drop even more. :| It'd be better if Michigan wasn't a stupid no-fault state.

Wow I feel for alot of you younger guys, I've been there and wasn't able to afford a fast car because of insurance. Drove a 99 Grand Am GT for years just so I could have affordable insurance. I found the other day that insurance for an 08 Corvette would be $240 for 6 months($40/month!!!). It is a faster, lighter, newer and sportier car than my 06 GTO yet I pay $350 for 6 months for the GTO. I use insurance.com to run the 12 insurers and give me the best rate.

I know the feeling guys. I figure you tell them damn insurance companies that the STi is only a PLEASURE vehicle and it sees 0-1000 miles a year. Tell them all the security stuff on it as well. Or you can just buy a WRX and stuff an STi engine on it and call it a day

+1 - if you have a good driving record you'll get a good rate through State Farm. I pay about $72 a month for my '05 STi and $12 for my bike both fully covered with $500.00 deductable.

if everyone wants to lower their rates u gotta try out esurance.com ive had em now for almost 3 years. i have an 04 STi and i pay $95 a month. and i dont exactly have a good driving record. i do have 4 tix within the past couple years and 1 accident still on me for about one more year.
