You guys make me glad I'm old. 31 and paying $580/6mo. Age plays as much a factor as driving record.

Just be glad you're not living in NJ. I will be paying ~$330/month. 22 years old... that's the cheapest I've found. Allstate wanted $670/month... hahaha. And no, I don't have points or anything. I had an accident nearly 4 years ago that doesn't "count" any more. Oh well!

Some people have seen their insurance premiums go down when they trade from an STI/Evo to a Corvette!

The problem is that the STI and Evo are powerful cars that are often purchased by kids. They have little dirivng experience, think they're invulnerable, and believe they have the skill of Mario Andretti. The end result is that they crash the car and the insurance company has to pay. And because the insurance company has to pay, we have to pay.

But don't worry about $2000/yr insurance. When I was 23, I insured a '98 Trans Am. I had quite a few tickets already, and this was in MA. I was paying $4500/yr! So the $2400 I'm paying now seems cheap. I'm still going to shop my insurance around though. I think I can get a better deal out there somewhere.

I have State Farm Insurance. They gave the best quote by a few hundred bucks.

To have full coverage on my '06 STi and our '07 Toyota Yaris it is $1049 every six months. However, that's with the 2-car discount, plus we have our house insurance through them. I'm 24, husband is 26...both clean records.

Just shop around.

I agree on shopping around. I though I was going to get killed when I bought the STi. It ended up being about 100 more than my maxima every six months. I ended up shopping around and I pay about 190 a month for three cars with full coverage and condo insurance.

AAA, Detroit Metro area, full coverage, $100 deductibles (lowest they'll go).

Premium is slightly under $90 a month. One of the very few benefits of growing old.

I have Met. I'm 29, far from a clean driving record, and pay 149/month.

on a side note- The Boston Globe had an article a few weeks back about the 10 highest cars to insure. The Evo was number one on their list. What was odd about the article was that it was grouped with really expensive cars to round out the list of ten. The 30,000.00, 4 door, 2.0 liter just didn't fit with the mold of the other cars costing 2-3x as much.

BROS! what is up with some of the premiums you're paying. as i said in another post on this "insurance talk" area, THIS IS WHAT I DO FOR A LIVING. i know for a fact that i can beat what some of you are paying.

i'm an insurance broker - i shop the open market to look for competitive rates, and then i can write a policy with the lowest bidder.

him me up with a PM and let's see what i can do for you. if i can save you some cash, great. if not, no harm no foul. but i'm pretty confident that i can smoke some of what i've seen so far.

let me know.

RAS.
