I thought I was getting the best deal with Esurance for my STi and homeowners insurance, but I just compared against Progressive and they are about ~$200/year cheaper for my combination. I was pretty surprised... but I think I'll be switching to Progressive now.

Pretty wild, my insurance is cheaper than if I had a WRX. It considers my STi an "Impreza Other", not an "Impreza WRX" - it manually overrode my selection of "Impreza WRX" after I input my VIN number and gave me a ~$150 discount. I had them call me and spoke with a licensed insurance agent and asked them multiple times to check everything and ensure that my WRX STi Limited would be fully covered - she double checked the VIN and promised me that everything was correct. I told her it costs $10K more than a WRX and is the faster, more powerful version. She insisted that I would be fully covered with the discounted rate. Pretty sweet! I did everything on my part to ensure that they were giving me the correct rate and they had all of my accurate information available - so I switched to Progressive tonight for auto and homeowner's insurance after she promised me multiple times that it was a completely correct rate for my specific car.

Has anyone else experienced a cheaper rate with an STi over a WRX? Perhaps fewer accidents, older average age of owners, etc. contribute to this?

$526/6 months, plus a onetime $50 sign up discount on top of that. This is for full coverage with $1K deductibles.

Try the Ameriprise insurance through Costco if you have a membership. I pay less than $100 a month for FULL coverage with high limits on my 06. I am 35, married, and have a perfect record though . I know if i get even one ticket they will bump me WAY higher. Drive safely. Save it for the track/autox.

10 most and least costly cars to insure (Page 1 of 4)

Look at the whole list and it'll become more obvious.
