Well before I put my 88 civic hatch on my policy i was paying $4560 through allstate. Put the civic on there and now its $3144. Dont ask me how multi car discount works, but just go buy a beater, running or not and insure it with the lowest possible coverage. It'll drop your premium quite a bit as you can tell from me. Call up your insurance company and ask for a quote for a 88 civic hatch DX 1.5ltr (or some other beater) and see what it brings your total too

i would have to agree, im 24 with 10 current points on my license. on top of that ive had more points in the past(they get removed 3 years after the ticket) than the age of 99% of the forum members. i pay $3300 a year and i thought that was a lot.

Not to start a another arugement, but majority of the forum members are acutlly older than 33 (according to another thread: http://www.iwsti.com/forums/showthre...highlight=age). You'd never think so would you?

Say car A is $200/mo, you add car B, if it were your only car it would be $150/mo, but since it is your second car, you get a "discount" so car B is only $125/mo. Total of $325 instead of $350. At least, that has always been my experience, and I have had two+ cars off and on for a number of years, with a few different ins. companies.

But it sounds like your policy is almost averaging the two, which totally makes sense, because any time you spend driving the second car, means the first car is less exposed to risk, since it is sitting in a garage somewhere. There is a little extra comprehensive risk for fire, theft, whatever, but that is minimal.

I have never heard of an insurance company doing something so logical. Maybe I should call Allstate.

Maybe if the beater is listed as your primary, and the STi is weekend/occasional use, you could squeak out a few more $, but I haven't found that to make a ton of difference either.

2 of my closest friends & my g/f down here have changed to allstate because i reccomened they should look into it because there getting raped in insurance. One buddy, josh (who is also 22), was paying 300 a month on his VW R32. Once he wrecked my last STi his insurance went up to $392 a month. He sold the R32, changed to allstate and got a 01 Vette. He now pays 200 a month for that thing! My other friend Rob's (22yo) insurance dropped 50 dollars a month on his crotch rocket when he changed to allstate. My Girlfriend (18yo) was afraid to get her own insurance (under her parents right now) becuase the cost was going to go up so much. Checked out allstate, its actully 12 bucks a month cheaper for her own policy vs, under her parents with statefarm. You also have accident forgiveness. Wreck your car, rates dont go up. Its a nice feature.

Thats exactly what I told them. 88 civic hatch is my daily driver/ work car. STi is my weekend/pleasure car.

all state wanted to rape me, i wanted to see how much i will pay for a brand new STI and Mazda 3 and they gave me $2,440.00 for 6 months, called Geico and they came out to $1.440.00 for 6 months, which is $1000 difference. Before i buy the sti i wanted to see how much i will pay for insurance and if it wouldnt be for Geico i wouldnt get one. I am 28 years old.

thats pretty close. depending on how many miles you put on each car you can get bigger discounts. if you put the sti in storage for the winter, you can save a fortune. instead of paying 400 for both cars, you're now paying 150. or some silliness.

i'm 27, single, i pay 1600 a year for full coverage on two cars including my house insurance. i've only had one ticket. USAA FTW.

check your deductables too. you can save a bit if you up them. (as long as you have funds to pay them if something happens). the way i look at it, i always have some way to pay my deductable. i did the math, and the difference in monthly payments meant if i was accident free for 1 year, i'd make up the difference in deductable....after that, i'm just making money.
