$3200, 27, no points, North Jersey. Needless to say, I think it's time for a different carrier for me. It's currently Hanover Insurance.

I would still expect you to pay at least $2500. The theft rate in NJ is what drives up the car insurance prices.

$1500 every 6 months with one accident 2 years ago and I am 20 right now. It is kind of funny because my insurance went down about $400 a year after I changed to the Sti from my 2000 Toyota Celica GT-S (must be the 4 door factor).

This thread is all fine and dandy, but without listing coverages, deductibles, and locations, the prices are pretty meaningless.

bad drivers are everywhere
Singletrack- I was with Amica too...for six months. they jacked up the rates for no reason at first renewal from what you're paying to $1700 on my RSX-S. Switched to Wawanesa (so cal company), and got a better rate with better coverage. dunno what the STI is yet...hopefully not much more than the $1100/yr.
$200/500 deductables, liability coverage isn't extreme, but adequate... up in the hills in northern california

just got my renewal bill after my dad's accident in the car. $800 for 6 months, but that covers both my STi and my 98 Accord.

I am 23
VA Insurance
No points (Because I am lucky, and work the system!)
I have had three wrecks one was a total and then my WRX had 15,000 worth of damage. I have had two reckless tickets but got out of both! I had been driving in NC with a GA drivers lic and my car Ins in VA and for some reason they never got any of my tickets!!! Then I switched my Lic over to VA and I just checked my record and its clean!
I raised my deducts to 500/1000 while I am in Korea(USAF) and I am paying $55 a month for full coverage. I was paying $110 with 250/250 deducts.

Will

I hope not. But I've seen a lot of crashed STis threads here and on NASIOC.

I am in insurance agent in Washington DC and have a few tips for my fellow STi owners:

1.) If possible insure your STi with another car so you get the multi-car discount. If you live with your parents or a spouse, try to insure your cars together, it is usually cheaper than having two policies.

2.) Raise your Collision deductible to at least $500 (if you are under 30 yrs old, you should raise it to $1,000). You don't want to file a claim unless you absolutely have to. Having an at-fault accident on your record combined with a high performance car is not a good thing.

3.) If you are ever involved in an accident with another car, GET A WITNESS. No matter who is at fault or what the other person says, try and get a name and phone number for someone whom saw the accident (People in your car do not count). For example, you are stopped at a light and someone rear-ends you. They get out and say they are sorry and that their insurance will take care of everything. Later that day you get a call from his insurance company. They tell you that according to their insured, you backed into him. If the only evidence is your word versus theirs, your company will charge you with the accident and his company will charge him with the accident. If you have a witenss, they will likely charge the accident to the other driver.

4.) Never, ever, miss a payment. If you get cancelled for non-payment your rates will really go up.

5.) The state you live in makes a big difference. For example if you live in DC you will pay almost double what you would pay for the same coverage in VA.

6.) I am sure many of you (especially thsoe under 30) are considering lowering your limits to the state minimiums to save money. I strongly discourge this because your Uninsured Motorists (UM) limits cannot exceed your liability limits. For example, if you get a liability limit of only $20,000, then your UM limit will only be $20,000. Maybe you don't have any real assests for someone to take so you are not worried about having a low Liability limit. I don't disagree with that line of thinking. My concern however is the UM claim. For example, some drunk runs a red light and hits you and leaves the scene. Who will pay your medical bills (your health insurance will pay some, but does not pay very well for rehab) and your lost income? You could easily be out of work for six months and have no income. All this can be collected under your UM coverage, but if your limit is only $20,000, that is not going to go very far. In the last 10 years, all of our large losses have been UM claims. I would get a Liabiliy limit and UM limit of at least $100,000. For those of you with kids, I would recommend at least $300,000 or higher.

Hope this helps.

I just got off the phone with my insurance company. I live in NY and I'm 25 (no points/accidents). This is a 100k/300k policy with a $1000 deductible, multi-car discount, and defensive driving course.

I currently drive an RSX-S (waiting for '05 STi). I'm paying $2200 a year.

The STi is $2400 a year with the same coverage.

Now check this one.....a 350Z is $2050 a year  Go Figure???
