Default I just save a ton of money on my car insurance!

And it wasn't Geiko!

The thread about $400+ a month insurance on the STi in NJ prompted me to FINALLY call around and see if there is better rates out there for me.

I'm currently with USAA, 28 y/o, no points and pay $3000 a year.

Progressive cut my payment LITTERALLY in half. $1500 a year! Wow. I know some are thinking "yeah 1500...big deal" ...for a NJ motorist driving an STi that's a godsend.

Just a heads up- Jersey STi drivers should give Progressive a call.

Is you car registered in NJ? I remember checking ages ago and Progressive didnt insure NJ cars. Maybe it's changed or you have PA plates?

I did the exact same thing a few months ago!!

USAA has priced themselves right out of the market!! Kinda messed up since they cater to the military. I've been with them for 7 years too. Progressive is charging me 1/3 the price for insurance.

yeah USAA hooks us up on many things, but insurance for the car isnt one of them. I called progressive after USAA quoted me $700 a month!!!! I have no tickets, and two accident..both which were not my fault. Progressive is great...I have them as well.

STiCED---you are a GOD!
i just got a quote from Progressive Insurance as a resident of Pennsylvania since i got to Penn State and have my car in PA for 3/4 of the year. They quoted me $226 a month for liability/comprehension/collision for STi under my own policy with the STi as my only car. hell yea im switching to Progressive from crappy NJ insurance. thanks alot to everyone for your advice to switch to Progressive and get PA insurance rates. I am going crazy because i am so satisfied i am no longer being ripped off by NJ insurance rates!!!

Hrm...i'm gonna have to check this one out. I'm on the usaa currently and i thought the rate was pretty good.

BTW how is progressive's service...If one should (god forbid) get in a wreck or whatever, do they screw the customer over, do they raise your rates, do they total a lot of cars, do they pay out, etc.?

I happen to be a Farmer's agent in SoCal and have quoted myself on an STI (I am 23 with no tickets or accidents) and it was about that.
Progressive is very cheap, and has pretty good claims service, although in the event something needs to be replaced they do not cover oem parts. My buddy has a mustang insured with progressive, and got attacked by a rake on the freeway that broke his driver side mirror and did some other various body damage. The body shop replaced it with some cheapo mirror that rattles and such, and progressive told him he would have to pay out of pocket to get oem parts =/.

Wow just noticed my join date is nov. 2001 with only 3 posts =). Guess thats how long I have been interested in the STi =0

Well, coming from myself who is insd by progressive and works there as well. I can tell you from personal expeirence that you will not get better customer service outside of progressive. If you want the fastest service and the best customer service progressive is the way to go!!
- I am a claims adjuster in FL and I can tell you that you will not get faster service in any other insurance company!
-I get no discounts or benifits beinng insd by progressive and they still have the best rates and the best service all around, I deal with insurance companies everyday and trust me i does not get easier that Progressive. 1 accident, 1 adjuster, 1 contact person, which means 1 person for you to call with any questions. and 1 person that works for you on a daily basis
-just my 2 cents

about NJ.......

-they just lifted some laws that make it alot easier for insurance companies to write in NJ now. That is why both Geico and Progressive have moved into NJ. I will try to find the internal news release that came out a month or two ago about NJ.

Agreed that Progressive has good customer service, but your 1 claims adjuster, 1 contact etc. is great and all, but that adjuster etc. works for the company. In a system like Farmers, Statefarm etc. you have an agent who is your 1 guy for everything. He works for you more than he works for the company. A good example of this is if you call progressive and talk to one of their csr's they are going to tell you what to do by the book. Where as if you have an agent, there may be certain situations where he'd advise you to not involve insurance companies (IE your teenage son hits a car and does $1000 in damage). There is advantages to both, but I know here in Calif. in independent studies progressive is not the highest rated for claims or customer service.

Anyway in my personal experience in potentially financially hazardous fields (insurance, investments, taxes, real estate etc.) I always want someone that works for me, not someone at a call center. My 2 cents.

31 Y/O, 4 tickets and I'm insured with American Family. Best customer service I have ever had and the monthly bill to insure my 04 is $62.45 with 0/250 comp/collision. They are MUCH more forgiving than anyone else when it comes to tickets, etc.
