That's what my parents were telling me. I was on USAA because my father is ex-military. They said, "your not going to find it cheaper elsewhere".

Well I did and 50% CHEAPER! USAA is a bunch of crooks.

USAA is always trying to get me to switch. They have never once come close to what I pay with State Farm. My last try with them was 2 to 3 months ago and they wanted $400 more a year over my current policy. No tickets or accidents and I'm 30.

Thank you so much. I just switched to progressive and saved $1100/yr on my sti insurance. + I increased my coverage limits, and decreased my deductible by $500. I live in GA so coverage is not super expensive, but I had no idea I could get such a nice rate!

I don't remember how much I pay every 6 months or year as my rates have been discounted several times, but I pay around ~300/month for my STi and Mazda6 with Farmers. I would switch for a better rate but I love my insurance agent and have my auto, life, and home insurance through them.

I have no complaint about USAA, even if i do pay a little more. When i had my accident years ago, they took care of everything. They had the car taken to a shop that they approve of. They made sure the company used all oem parts and had people stop by to make sure the work was being done properly. The car was better then new when i got it back.

I also used USAA when i got the loan for my STi. There percentage rate was way less then it would have been if i used my bank. It was even less then what Subaru was offering on financing for a new STi. So i went with USAA, no hassle there. Oh and i payed extra for the cool insurance that if i die before the loan is paid off, USAA will pay off the rest of the loan.

the thing about USAA is that they have top notch no questions asked customer service. The rest are cheaper but you'll know the difference when its time to make a claim, especially if you care about your car and there are soft tissue (ie back pain) issues to deal with.

Wawanesa only cost me $200 more a year than my previous policy under 21st Century for my Accord. Plus, they were amazingly friendly to deal with over the phone when I set up my policy. 21st Century was quoting me my Accord policy x 3 (!), which is initially what scared me off from purchasing an STi in the first place. Thankfully, Desi at Irvine Subaru pointed me in Wawanesa's direction, and well, the rest is history.

My insurance doubled when I moved from CT to GA. USAA said because the large amount of uninsured motorist in GA. Damn rednecks.

Progressive huh? Call your agent or rep. and ask them why they require all body shops to use replacement parts built in China and NOT OEM. That is unless their cheap parts don't fit or you wish to pay the difference... I will stick with State Farm, who takes care of me when I need it.

I have USAA as well, so i went on progressive.com and got a quote.
My quote for USAA was $2200/6mo, progressive $1600
Catch though is progressive only gives you a good deal if you pay the balance; if you want to pay month to month, policy ends up costing a total of $2000... an extra $400 dollars just to do that!... USAA lets me pay monthly (extended) for like a $4 charge/mo... funny - no-one else noticed this?
