Take a look at esurance or safeauto.

i am put into a dilemma however because my insurance company (GMAC) only gives rates per month. i am only home for two weeks, and i cant get the half price discount which really sucks because my insurance is $418 a month (NJ rate for male, 19 with NO tickets) this insurance is ridicolous and i was wondering if any of you had advice on what to do. after all, this is my only time home this year with the STi so i want to drive it, especially with the Pirelli snow tires i put on it. also my brother said he would let my borrow his 96' accord when i need to get to work so i have access to another car. I am leaning to putting my STi back on insurance because i miss driving it so much. i was just seeking any opinions or advice on a what to do. thanks
i was in a similar situation recently. although im 21 (senior at loyola, in baltimore), when i got my sti in oct. i shopped around for insurance rates before deciding in whose name we should register the sti. As a 21 year old male with more than a few points (and after having my liscence suspended twice, both for a short period of time after which my rents were able to pull a few strings), it was very expensive to have the car in my name. In the end, we ended up registering the car under my fathers name (a 50 year old with a perfect record) and only saw a $400 increase per year from my 99 vw jetta
2.slow. So what do i think: move the car to your dad's name and have them place you as a secondary driver; you are covered the same either way. Indeed, we have 4 cars and I believe all 4 members of my family are covered while driving any of of our cars, although only my father and i can actually drive stick (2/4 of the cars are stick) and not everyone will drive every car. for those of you how know insurance very well, is that assumption correct??

If you have the cash do it. Be careful shopping people often like progressive becuase it has a low price but believe me they arent being nice. The policy contract they use offers reduced coverages compared to some other companies. This is becuase they are more of a non standard or high risk driver program. I'd stick to an independant agent. This way you could avoid this one month rule and get someone that will work with you.

Good Luck.

Also if the car isnt insured dont let you father drive it or make sure he checks with his company first for coverage.

ever since the hurricanes the premiums have done nothing but go premium. My rate went up $200 a year and they didn't even notify me of it. I pay about $850/6months.

www.progressive.com

They'll give you the best rates out there, even if their's isn't one. In my case, they were the best. $790/6mos.

see how everybody average about 100 bucks? there is no way subbiesoul is paying 75 bucks for this subaru, he has to be at least 60 plus.
my mom(50) had all state insurance for 20 years and when she first got the sti, it was still high, insurance found out that stis are too fast!. lol
and she is only paying 40 bucks for her mercedes c320 for full coverage, and with sti now she is paying around 150. and this is with good driver, more car, 20 years of same insurance, no ticket and not accident discount.

If you really want to compare rates, I am at $370/6months. And I'm sure there are people out there who have cheaper than that. I can assure you I'm not over 60, though I am past the twenty-something bracket. Single, clean record, no claims, my GF and I on the policy. 3 vehicles, so there is a multi-discount, but it isn't much. They charge us $350 for her Protege5, which makes no sense to me, but I'm not complaining.

Insurance used to be through Amex, but they spun off or something and are now Ameriprise. The cheapest I have found by far, no complaints yet.

I pay 500/mo for Comprehensive with 1 totaled car, and 3 moving violations. so with a clean record you should be more then 100 dollars under that... I'm 19 btw.

All these insurance quotes from different people doesn't mean a thing....they don't live in NJ.

I'm 28, perfectly clean record, and pay $300 a month on my 05 STi. It's a racket.
