dont switch insurance companies just because the tool behind the counter didnt know every fact about every car in the world. kindof a stupid expectation.

when it comes to you needing them to replace your spoiler, cause you hit a deer and the wing caught it like a basketball hoop... and the adjuster doesnt think it came stock, then show them a brochure.

here in Manitoba we have a government run auto-insurance. they dont even look at the car that youre insuring. you walk up to the counter, and show them the paperwork.

You have experience with them or something?

Farmer's is great, that's who I have my automobile/life/homeowner's policies through. My car was vandalized a couple months ago and it took 6 weeks to fix at the collision shop, but my insurance adjustor was very nice and made sure everything that got messed up was fixed (including replacing the trunk and spoiler that were stolen). So aznboi320 you don't have anything to worry about.

Farmers was really expensive when i looked into it for the STi. Im probably going to go with Progressive unless I find something cheaper

...and I also work for state farm. The agents just sell the insurance, it's the underwriters and adjusters that deal with what is covered and what is not.

I would go to him with a brochure of the car, once he realizes that the car is stock as is tell him "Sorry but I do not want to make business with you because of lack of knowledge"
And walk out to another insurance company.

Allstate here...best.....I would def show him proof that it comes like this, and then just find a better insurance company that may offer you a better $$ coverage for less......or tell him see you were wrong...I want a price break now!

Yes take him a brochour of the car, show it to him, and tell him he needs to be more careful giving out bad information. If he gives you ANY crap, get his superiors contact info and make a call.

I've been insured under Farmer's before a long time ago and I was under my parents' policy at the time too. Their service was pretty good from what I recall, but their rates were expensive. Way too expensive for me and it even got too expensive for my dad who had multiple policies with them. He switched to Allstate. I'm on AAA right now because they gave me the lowest rate on the STi. Allstate was ridiculous for the same coverage. Location is one of the biggest factors in price and that's were different companies can fluctuate. I shopped around with Progressive which was even cheaper, but work out of local store front agencies and the area rep was sketchy on returning my calls so I gave up on them.

If you've had a good on going relationship with this particular agent, I guess it's a little harsh to dump him for something small like this, but I would still call him out on it because it is rather unexcusable to be ignorant about something that's directly related to his career. It's bad enough to have to deal with stupid car sales people who know nothing about their product.

Yea there are lots of variables. I currently have progressive and I am 24 live in low crime area and have a clean record and no accidents. With progressive I pay around 1800/yr, with esurance and the exact same coverage i was quoted at 1400/yr. And esurance even has a modification coverage, where you can choose how much you want covered for aftermarket parts and then pay a monthly premium on that. Hopefully I can get around 1,000 a year when i switch to esurance and turn 25.
