Sadness at the ol' homestead. Insurance costs are just too much on the STi. My quote came in at $1200 every 6 months. I am 36 with 3 other cars/home and life all thru Farmers. I do have an accident that comes off in Feb, so maybe it will be much lower and I can revisit the purchase then.

What are you guys paying in insurance?

My Subi will be shipped soon. I have not checked insurance, but i can tell you my '03 Z06 is around $700 every 6 (compared to $580 for my old '04 Toyota 4 Runner). I'm 33, wife, child, 3 auto's, no tickets or accidents.

I can't imagine the STi will be more than the Z06.

Shocker,

Sorry to hear that. By the title, I thought you were a 19 yr old griping about a high insurance.

I'm surprised you are so high. I am at around 450/6 mos. (if you search archives I've got exact number somewhere)

I'm also 36, married, own my home, no kids, no claims, no tickets.

If you're similarly clean, then you should shop around.

Check out Progressive.com, they give you their quote, but they also tell you what several other companies will charge.

Best regards,

Don

$1050 a year. I know you think insurance is a scam but what would you do if you hita car at 45mph? Who would pay for the repairs for your? Their car? What about their hospital bills?

I know.................your 401K

Your STI is a symbol 26 same as:

Ferrari 360 Modena
Corvette Z06
Lamborghini Gilardo

And higher than:

Corvette
MB SL55AMG

So ask them what would the rate be after Feb?
My STi was $20 a year more than my WRX.
Also did you shop around for a rate? Try E-Surance.com and see if you can get a better rate.

Cheers

Try American Express auto insurance. At least get a quote.
https://www64.americanexpress.com/au...t/QuoteServlet

They are much cheaper than anything else I have found. And my '05 STi is cheaper than my '02 WRX was, and both are less than our Protege5. Makes no sense to me but I'm not complaining. Not trying to come off like a sales guy, it just seems like no one really knows they offer insurance. I guess your accident might be a problem, I don't know how picky they are.

Default NEW AND IMPROVED M.S.P.T. "MAKING ROOM" SPECIALS!

I got quoted $1800/year from Geico last night when I called them up.

Any other suggestions from anyone on inscurance companies??

I've called:
Liberty Mutual
Progressive
Geico
State Farm
American Express (is not Licensed to insure vehicles in NH as of yet)

Any others you guys can think of that I could try for a lower rate?
(By the way.. i'm 24, so as no one takes any hints from my username)

Thanks.

Not even $700 year.
Insurance on the STi is about $3-4 more than my WRX.
I have two cars and a house with StateFarm. No tickets and one accident that was not my fault.
