Default I hate bad drivers

Dear incompetent STI drivers,

Please turn your keys in and purchase a civic! There is no need to buy an STI if you can't handle it and will wrap it around a pole. End rant. lol. I just needed to vent. I recently got in the school of Managment @ Binghamton U. so I am going to be stuck in upstate NY for the next few years. I hate NE winters!!! I just sold my M3 and am looking to sell my winter car(2000 legacy) to get into 1 car instead of 2. The whole 6 months 1 car, 6 months the other is a pain especailly with insurance. Thought I was going to be going south and keeping the M but by the grace of god I got excepted in to SOM @ BU so I decided to go the 1 car route until I can go south. Should have checked insurance before going through with this brillant plan. Just got my quote today for an 06 sti and I almost fell over. The insurance is under my father (aka they think hes driving my cars) and its 1800 a year. For both the M and the subi it was only 1050 a year. I just dont know if I can justify paying 900 every 6 months....... I thought about shoping around but I know thats the best rate I can find. Theres no way going out on my own and only being 20 will reduce my insurance.

Disclaimer*** I in no way ment to imply anyone who is reading this cant drive, rather my comments were directed at the people who caused the Sti to be red listed at metlife.....

Look to the parents who buy their kids STIs and/or insure their kids STIs in their own names, raising the insurance rate that a 31 year old like myself ends up paying.

Never thought of that...I couldnt believe a 50+ year old guy(my dad) would have to pay that much. The premiums on his 335i are only 216 ever 6 months. He almost fell over when he heard the subi would be 4 times as much to insure and only costs 1/2 of the 335i...... In any event I'll have to look into the rates more. My rep at metlife said I should think about rising my detuctable(sp) but I dont know if I want to do that. Its just so frustrating that I still have to have my own cars under my daddy because more than 1/2 the population of 20 year olds arn't mature enough.

It could be worse...

You could be buying an Evo. They are number 1 on the list of most expensive to insure in the US.

I believe Subi STI is #4.

$1800 a year isnt bad.... Ive seen people on here post their rates that were x2 as much. I pay alittle under $1000 a year on my own policy but thats going down more because the insurance companies like the 08sti's better for some reason.

AMEN to that!

My rate is MUCH higher on the STi than my Tacoma, but I get a multi-car discount and home owners reduction.

23 here, my insurance living in a rural town in Mass is $943, total coverage (everything on it). It'll bump up once I move into boston, still not that bad though.

My cousin when he was 19 was paying $3700 for his 06 GTO.

Search for other companies. I had the same problem when I first searched for insurance. I was going to be insured under my parents, who have never been in a wreck at all. The insurance company was going to charge me $2,200 every six months. My parents have really high coverage. I shopped around quite a bit and found the same exact amount of coverage for half the price: $2,200 for a year. I'm 21.
