I get a call today from USAA asking me "what are the red things in the engine bay", "you have an scca plate, do you race..."

The adjuster apparently took pictures of my scca specialty plate, and engine bay.

I was sort of angry about this. I told the guy thats how the engine comes stock, and I'm an scca member but dont race, road or autocross, I just get the newsletters, magazine, go to local events.

I am considering calling USAA back and complaining about this. Your thoughts? I mean do they think I am lying to them... jesus.
You shouldn't even have said that. I would have told the guy to go f&&& himself.

I would call up the adjuster, tell him to go **** himself and stay in his league. Then I'd ask for his bosses number and complain to him in an appropriate, professional manner. But that douchebag adjuster can go suck a dick.

I'm military and USAA has been absolutely great with me. They take their customer service VERY seriously. When I crashed my car (repaired great though!) they didn't give me any kind of this BS. They were extremely helpful, and flat-bedded my car almost 50 miles to one of their warrantied facilities. So, yes, definitely get it done at a warrantied facility. Their work is going to be top notch in the first place, not to mention if your bumper falls off in 40 years when you're a retired guy enjoying your classic STi.......guess what! FREE BUMPER!

I would definitely complain to your adjusters boss. I might be a little rash when someone gives me attitude and I feel I'm being treated poorly for no reason, but definitely be respectful with the higher-ups. They'll take care of you, at least in USAA. I've personally spoke with some higher up regional dudes just because I asked for some papers to be expedited if possible, and they passed me right up the chain as nice as could be. Awesome company, ****ty adjuster. Don't let him go unnoticed, because the company will suffer, consequently having us suffer more. Replace the squeeky wheel before it damages your driveline, ya know? Believe me, his boss will want to know if the customers are being treated poorly. It's really the only company besides mom'n'pop shops that actually try to take care of their customers.......

The thing that strikes me as funny here is that the insurance agent is investingating mods in a parked vehicle accident.

It is funny, but the insurance company will do anything to save a buck. Including voiding your policy on grounds entirely unrelated to the event.
