Default Question about points in another state

So during thanksgiving week i was driving a rented car in Arkansas and got pulled over for speeding; 91 in a 70. I live in NJ and have NJ license and registration obviously. I am planning to just pay the fine and take the Arkansas points, since i dont live there, but now someone told me that insurance companies find out about these things and increase your premiums anyway, regardless of the state that the violation occured in. Does anyone know the real answer to this? Thanks!

When I lived in Illinois, I received tickets in West Virginia, Kentucky, Pennsylvannia, and Ohio. None of them ever showed up on my insurance report.

^ Thanks for the response, did you pay those tickets or just left them unresolved?

I have been ticketed in FL, NY, CT and always paid the fines. I have yet to see them on insurance.

Seppo:

You should be able to look at the DMV web sites for Arkansas and New Jersey and see what they say about reporting violations to other states.

As long as Arkansas and New Jersey don't have an agreement between the two states to report vioations, they won't appear on your record in New Jersey.

Then you can check with your insurance company and see if they only check your state of residence when renewing your insurance. (Might want to do that anonymously.)
