| Senior STI Driver | I'm in the process of installing my amps, and after removing my front seats I noticed that there are A/C Vents under our seats, my guess is its for the rear passengers feet. But this means that if you install amps under ur front seats, there will be A/C blowing on your amps, this is extremely good for cooling amps as they get very hot. Not to mention there is alot of clearance under our seats for a decent sized amp. Just wanted to let you guys know. I'll post up pics of my install later. Here are the specs of my system. Pioneer DEH-740MP Headunit Panasonic CMD-V9000U DVD Player w/ 7" Flip out screen Focal 165V Slim components in front Phoenix Gold Tantrum 600.4 Amp for components Two JL Audio 10W3 Rockford Fosgate Punch 800a2 Amp for subs Audiopipe 1/0 Gauge power cables IA Performance STI Speaker installation kit IA Performance STI Wire Harness Second Skin Damplifier for Sound Deadening This ad is not endorsed by this member. IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2003 Trader Rating: (0) | I just purchased the same Tantrum 600.4 amp. Does it fit under the seats? I also have the Tantrum 1200.1 for my sub. That would be great if I could get one under each seat! Please keep us informed! |

If you are running a class AB amp then you need to make sure either you don't turn your gain up that high or don't run it for long periods of time. Also it depends on what type of load you are putting on the amp! If you take a class AB amp and hook up a load of 1 ohm(if stable to 1 Ohm) then you are going to be putting out more heat then if it were a 4 ohm load! I would install my mids & highs amp under the seat but I would put the sub amp in the trunk somewhere! IMO That is unless your amp has a good fan system or you hook a 12v fan up blowing onto it being under the seats is just doesn't give great air flow! Does the AC blow through these vents? I thought they only worked for the heat? Will |

IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | The problem with open a/c vents near an amplifier isn't the air temp as much as the condensation from the air. This isn't a problem with a properly functioning a/c system usually but to be safe I would put some duct tape on those...um ducts. |

Vents are bad there. 1) Summer AC the amp will be cold, when you opent he door, the air strikes cold metal and condensation forms. 2) Winter - heat blowing on the amp. Neither of these are horrible but are less than ideal. I removed the ducts at the next junction and like cnstman said, used the resulting holes in the crossmember to run wires through. Very trick and no heat / AC to the amp. Don This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
