Default Stealth V1 Install

I just finished my install of a Valentine 1, Custom V1 Remote Display and Custom Remote Mute Switch.

I used gdb's install thread inspired by austinpike to hardwire and mount the v1 above the rear view mirror.

I then purchased a Remote Display & Mute from agravic on eBay and routed it above the headliner, down the a-pillar and behind the cluster's bezel and to the place you see the display mounted. I need to re-shape the mount for the display, but it works for the time being.

I then purchased a second USDM I/C spray switch from SubaruGenuineParts.com and tested it to see what contacts were connected when the switch is depressed. It turns out that the two brass colored ones work the switch, while the golden ones must be used for the lights. I plan on getting the light to work someday. I then made a poorly centered "mute" sticker to put on top of the I/C spray text.

I cut off the switch for the remote mute the guy on eBay added, and attached the two wires to the brass contacts in the I/C switch.

Cleaned everything up and was done. Take a look at my version1 V1 install below. Sorry for the crappy picts, but it was way too dark in the garage.

Now I can mute the V1 from the new switch and change modes. I also have the option of muting &mode changing from the remote display and radar unit.

It doesn't pick up as well mounted behind the dots like that, and when mounted that high there is no clear straight path out the rear window for it.

yeah yeah, i realize that. but- do you jave any evidence of it- or is it all hearsay? i understand laser might be reduced, but radar might not be affected.

i like the clock idea, but i use mine too much.

if you can do it- try and get the eBay modification so you don't see the phone card coming out the side. you can always resell your current one.

with that, it would be perfect and look near oem.

that's where i cheated. the ebay guy tapped it for me. i assume that one wire, when made into a circuit, mutes. i just re-used his tap, so i unfortunately can't help.

maybe i should open his electrical tape and see.

V1 strongly recommends against mounting it behind the sun dots because it reduces the effectiveness, this is straight from the company. And mounting it that high leaves no direct clear path out the back window, so rear detection will be significantly reduced.

when my windshield finally goes, i won't get dots again.

but- it remins that this is the best mounting point for ME.

yes, i realize i may be reducing signal by some, but i am ok with it.

Cool idea for the switch

My mute never seems to work right on the unit, I hit mute and it goes silent, I hit it again and it doesn't come back on loud
