IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2006 Trader Rating: (17) | I'm a dummy when it comes to electronics. I got my AVIC F-series installed and was curious how everyone/if anyone got their OEM optional subwoofer/amp to work with the new headunit? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! Per the instructions, you have: Ground wire. 12+ Volt (through a fuse first!) 2 RCA cables going to the back of the unit. * Not sure if the Subaru OEM sub/amp unit has RCA connections, but I imagine the other connections are the same. |

However, I find it hard to believe there are amps made without standard connections... if you could take a picture, it would be good. Also, assuming you didn't do the install, make sure you got the RCA's connections that come with the head unit. You see, Ideally, the Pioneer Units like that one has two MAJOR inputs/outputs connections. (besides the antenna / GPS / etc etc) One of them carries the standard power, lights, negative, ground and the four speaker connections. the second one is mostly AV/VIDEO.... it carries PRE outputs that you would usually connect to amps, and it should also have inputs if you have to connect a backup camera etc etc There's pretty much two options assuming your amp has either connections: A) if your amp has RCA INPUTS, you'd have to use the "secondary" connections and run cables from your headunit to the amp, and then connect the amp to your speakers. B) If your amp doesn't have RCA inputs but it has connections, then it's most likely you can connect your "speaker" outputs that are in the FIRST cable (not the av/video) to it. Option A is recommended. |

My new amplified sub has 2 RCA connections in the back, 1 for left and 1 for right. The Avic F900BT has RCA's on the back of the unit, so no need to use high connections in this setup according to the instructions. OP's setup may be different. Then there is ground, 12+ volt and HU connection. I'll post pictures once the setup is done. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. | |
