Default JL 10w3v3-2 Vs. JL 10w7-3

Hey everyone, I am looking into these two subs, and what i am seeing is that you get what you pay for. I know that i want a 10' sub and I know that I want it to be a JL. The w3v3 info is 2 ohm,mineral-filled polypropylene cone with nitrile-butylene rubber surround, 25-250 Hz, 100-500 watts RMS power range..and the price is 240. The W7 info is 3 ohm,
polypropylene W-Cone with polyester foam surround, 20-250 Hz frequency response, 250-750 watts RMS power range and the price is 640. If anyone has these please feel free to chime in. I am going to get either one or the other. As far as an amp I was thinking of the alpine mpr-m500 which is a mono amp 500 wattr rms x 1 at 2 ohms. I know this amp is ideal for the w3...but what amp would best utilize the power of the w7..? I am very new to car audio so go easy one me. Just looking for some help. Also where is a good place to buy from. I was on crutchfield but there prices seem very high.
Thanks, Steven

I have had 10w3's and they sound great, you can never really run the rms power they recommend. I had my 10w3's up to 200 watts rms and they were at there limit. As far as w7's thats a whole new ball park. In order to run w7's you will need a good amp. I recommend jl audio's amps. Between the subs and mids highs you will be using alot of power. This will require a better battery,multiple caps and an upgraded alternator. I would recommend 3 10w3's and it will sound great in the car, if you want to advertise 2 or 3 12w3's. As for great deals on jlaudio and high end car audio here are 2 links with great prices;

if you want a 10w7 get atleast a 800watt amp to power that thing..it will give a lot of power, but u want the amp to support it as well..you wont have to worry bout maxing out on the sub..it can def take the power

The w7's will require a very stable current. If the amp you use cannot provide that it will fry it. Remeber some amps tell you there rms power but thats @14.4 volts. You what an amp that can produce that power @ 12.5 volts. A good rule of thumb is to see what size fuses it uses. 10 amps=100 watts, so if it has 2 30amp fuses its good for 600watts. Some of the newer amps are more efficent so this rule will not apply completely.
