IMO i would get indash navi, amp, and new speakers all around with no sub. but thats me... thats exactly wut i did, i came from a chevy s10 with three 12's right behind my back and decided no subs in the STi... too much weight and the boxer rumble sounds too good to drain out.
...personaly i love kenwood, i have their indash navi and speakers, and a PT amp

I work at Stereo King in Portland OR and I have customers come in with this budget all the time and I usually get them alpine type r components, Alpine deck like the cda9884, and rockford fosgate P2 subs and a rockford T500-1 amp for the subs and a T400-4 amp for the components! Rockford has come along way in there technology recently lol I have about a 10,000 dollar system in my 07 ZX3 focus but I get hella discounts! lol which by the way if anyone needs anything and lives in the oregon area hit me up I will hook ya up!

W7's are a complete waste of money. I'll take a pair of Fi Audio BL12's or Q12's. I would run wither Sea's or Rainbow components, SunDown Audio amps, and Stinger wire and accessories.

RF P2 subs aren't bad for a budget setup. My buddy has a pair of P212's running off the 400a4 in his Mazda3 and they sound descent.

I think the most important thing before shouting out any answers is, what type of music do you listen to? What are you looking for out of your system? If you want a clean, functional system you can get by cheap. If you want in dash navi and all of that, then you're in the right price range. I have yet to put a stereo in my STI because of fitment problems I've seen and I'm a little picky about the stuff I use. My last car (2001 Eclipse GT) had a very clean/loud setup. Fairly basic Alpine head unit. 6 1/2 Infinity Perfect Components up front. Boston Acoustics 6x9s in back. Also has 2 Boston Acoustics Rally subs, (no longer made.) I was running a 400.4 Xtant Amp for my mids and highs and a Rockford 800 watt 2 channel for the subs. Also had a 1 Farad Rockford Cap. I had this stuff in the car for 5+ years and never blew any of it up. I listen to alot of rock, very little rap. If I put a stereo in the STI its gonna be alot more basic. If I get a sub at all, it'll just be a single 10. Again, what it comes down to is that it is gonna be your system. What do you want out of it?
