I've heard that site is biased heavily against the V1. Unsurprisingly, they don't sell the V1 product line (can anyone say conflict of interest?). Now I wonder if even the forum portion of the site has been fixed to make it appear that Bel and Escort makes better products than V1.

I read some articles saying it works like a charm, but it's bulky, expensive, and illegal for many different reasons, such as violating the FCC rules, military laws saying that only military is allowed to have the radio frequency jamming technologies and so on. There 's even a FCC citation against the makers of it...

So peleg, do you run a system like this? Is it safe to run it with-ought getting in trouble? I know this equipment is illegal, but can a cop tell if you are using it and if you are caught, what kind of trouble would you get in?

Thanks

Out the door, I'd say you can get a great system for $1500. It would cover everything, well, except aircraft.
How do you defend against instant-on radar?

If you have a jammer, it should still scramble his signal and give an error to the cop gunning you.

Ill let peleg chime in for sure tho

I run the V1. Radar detectors are legal in all states except in MN, VA and DC.

Laser jammers are illegal in some states, but not in all of them.

You can't really, the best strategy is to have a "rabbit" in front of you.

You can identify instant on by the way the beeps come shortly and disappear.

Depending on the gun, some guns give jam codes and some don't.

Also, some guns get jammed because of other sources (ground, etc.) and may give a jam code.

Laser Atlanta lidar in stealth mode is considered to be the most lethal gun out there.

V1's are only sold factory direct. No retail middle man

Or you can buy them on Ebay, craigslist and send the unit for an upgrade, but that usually equals the price of a new V1 after the upgrade.

this is OT but this seems like a knowledgeable place to ask....does anyone here have a problem with their V1 flipping a laser signature
during a WOT pull?

*edit* when there isnt anyone else on the road, i know there wasnt a cop around but it still gets your attention!

Some people reported that with the Escort 8500.

I've owned 2 8500's and now I own the V1, same car (my 2004 STi), never had any issues with any of these during WOT.

What is the software version on your V1? How old is the unit?

I know that radar detectors cannot save your from being an idiot, but I do mainly freeway driving. I have rarely actually seen my radar detector go off, but have seen cops coming up from behind me. Say a cop is way far behind you, can he (in california) just say that you were accelerating away from him, and since he was going "say 70", that you must be speeding and write you up?

Again, I realize radars cannot protect you from ignorance, but do you guys just constantly check on ramps for cops?

im thinking they can do something like that. cuz i remember the last (and first) ticket i got in south dakota (i think) had a bunch of boxes to check on the ticket saying which method they used to catch you speeding, and it had like radar or laser and all this stuff and one of the boxes said something about pacing with your car or whatever. so uhh i guess they can pull some kinda nonsense like that if they wanted to. and im sure its different from state to state.
