Alternatively, could I just disable the rear speakers and use the rear preout for the sub amp? Is there any advantage to using the dedicated sub preout versus the rear preout? I don't have people in my back seat all that often, so I wouldn't mind disabling those speakers if it saves me hundreds of dollars on a cheaper HU.

That'll work fine, so long as the amp has a dedicated lowpass crossover for the channels you intend to bridge.

just a thought too. but on the dnx-8120 it has 5.1 dolby surround processing. i have some nice speakers and a sub now, and WOW! i watched twister and it was insane! we have a dedicated theatre room in my parents house and this blows it away. if you want to watch movies it is very worth it.

also, with the dedicated sub output it has some features that make it nice with sub adjustment.

you get what you pay for. i would wait and get the 8120 because it is worth it. but if you want to save money go for. depends on what U want. : )

if i had some kind of camera, i'd mount it on the side of the car somewhere so it will save my wheels from scrapping the curb when i parallel park

5.1/PLII isn't really useful w/o a center channel though... anything panned center to the dialogue channel will be lost without one in those modes.

You make a directory on the SD card named /Garmin/poi and put the output file of the Garmin POILoader program in that directory.

I now have all parking garages in SF, all WellsFargo ATM, Starbucks available to me... and apparently a "stinky locations" database that will warn me when approaching a stinky area.

I also have the Garmin 2009 map updates for my Nuvi, and the file from that worked dandy too in the \Garmin folder -- so I have Garmin's latest maps...
did you copy just the 1 file containing the compiled maps to \Garmin folder to do your update?

I have the DNX5120. This trick doesn't work for the DNX5120. I have yet to try the POI on DNX5120.

Does anyone with this nav unit know what kind of audio you can still have playing while viewing the aux. video in?

I am looking into an HKS Camp 2, but want to play music while viewing all those gauges.

Can someone post that STi screen image again? It appears it's gone and I just got my 8120 installed...
