Default Steering wheel audio controls

Anyone have any ideas re: steering wheel audio controls.

Id like some sort of steering wheel mounted remote/controls for the headunit.

I like the controls on the new 08. Can they be retro fitted? Perhaps change the steering wheel all together maybe.

Anyone retrofit an 08 steering wheel with audio controls into an 06 or 07 Sti?

I was actually just wondering the same thing. Obviously the wheels can be switched but I'm wondering how you would go about hooking up the audio controls or if its even possible with the 07 factory deck. Also I imagine there would have to be some modification to the cruise control???

EDIT: thread might have a better chance in the "how-to" imho

I, think you're out of luck. They would be nice, but you cant really expect that with this type of car. If it wasn't for street legal laws they probly wouldn't have horns either. I think it would take wayyy to much money for the benifit, and not even a possibility with the 06 units.

Sorry man you lost me a bit. What do horns and the motor vehicle laws have to do with anything. There both factory pieces (which I will admit is one possible reason it might not work--everything changes with a redesign). They both have airbags etc. I just saw an 08 wheel on ebay for I think $200 so I don't think the cost would be astronomical. I admit I'm also skeptical you just kinda confused me with your answer man.

Sorry for the confusion. The hub of the wheel might fit, but it wasnt designed for an earlier model. There is no connection on the '06 head unit for steering wheel operation. You're probly have to wire into the buttons or head unit it self. Which IMO wouldn't be worth it. And by law anything thats street legal must have a horn, if its registered. Not saying that you can't pull it off, just saying its the law.
