Just behind the steering wheel, on top of the steering post theres a switch.... it toggles parking lights on and off... try flipping it and checking the lights

Thanks so much - maybe I bumped switch?
I will check switch in a bit and get back.

Do you know the purpose of this switch?

no problem, it happens to alot of people and confuses the hell outta all of em.... im not sure why its there, but IIRC it is mostly used in japan if you have to double park your car or something like that to run into a store or something, you can shut off the car, lock it and take the keys while leaving the parking lights on... BUT, thats what i read / heard so dont take it as fact

You were right. Top of steering column . I velcroed an electronic device there which obstructed my view of the toggle switch!

Thanks

Hah, was going to point and laugh, but sadly, I did this myself the first week I had the car. Kept wondering why my lights were on when I got in/out of the car about 5-times rechecking everything. Then found the top button. Curiously, does anybody know if you turn them "on" while driving if they brighten the rear brake's?

it doesnt brighten anything, its the same as turning your headlight switch to the first position. the reason we have this aux. switch up top is because our headlights and parking lights turn off with the ignition switch whereas most cars the lights will stay on independent of the ign. switch. they put this switch there so you can still turn your parking lights on while on the side of the road while your ignition is in the off position.
