im with B4rsti. I blew out my front right speaker by blasting music (including my 10w7) and i'd just like to replace the front speakers without getting an amp....any suggestions?

i have an alpine one channel amp, idk if that helps

Yes there are aftermarket speakers you can get and use to their potential without an amp.

I would suggest these:
Pioneer USA - Pioneer

As many of you know pioneer makes very good audio products. These component speakers will give you a clean sound off of an after market deck without the need of an upgraded amp.

Best Buy carries them if you want to listen to them on the showroom floor, of course they will not sound exactly the same there as in your car. But you can get a good idea.

In the way of deck powered speakers (and especially compared to stock speakers) they are pretty bass heavy speakers. They will be good for rap and hip hop.

If you're looking for better quality highs and mid tones out of your speakers, i would check out infinity's speakers.

I also believe (but i'm not sure.. too lazy to check) the alpine type S's can be powered by the deck and don't require an amp. But i'm not positive as i'm not too familiar with alpine these days as i feel they're not worth the money.

Pioneer really gives you a lot for what you pay for these days. Check out the A series, they're definitely a major upgrade over stock without having to hassle with an amp, etc.

Good luck.

What can you tell us about the Pioneer speakers and how they perform (good high's, more bass oriented...)

Any entry level speakers can be powered by the deck but you will always get a better sound out of them if they are amplified. The average deck states 4 speakers at 50 watts per channel. Which averages from 18-22 RMS (continuous power) per channel. Now most of those speakers on the shelves at best buy and so on are roughly 75 RMS per speaker. So the speakers usually average around 3 times as much wattage power as a deck puts out. Can you power these speakers with a deck? yes. But by doing this you are causing the speakers to distort at a much much quieter level than if you ran an amplifier that would power these to their full potential. That'll let you listen to your music a lot louder while it still stays clear and keeps your ears from bleeding.
