I'll take some in the daylight tomorrow. Let me go charge my camera and snap a few night shots...

Here is a quick video of the power up sequence (8mb). The power screen is customizable along with the background image. As you can see, the head unit illumination is spot on with our gauge colors. I bet this would look awesome with the limited/s204 dash.

If anyone is wondering about security, I have a few suggestions that I could lend via PM. The unit has a security code that you can input rendering the devise useless to anyone who would rip it off... But, this is why we have insurance, it's a risk you run with any double-din touch screen unit.

**EDIT**

Another thing I should mention for those looking at the 5120/7120/8120: Having tactile feedback when controlling volume is awesome along with solid function buttons. Since the more expensive 7120/8120 lack a volume knob, it was kind of a deal breaker for me... I like to keep my eyes on the road

Does anyone know if you need any other hardware / kits besides the wiring harness for the DNX 5120 on the 05 STi?

I just pulled out my AVIC N-1 -- what a wiring nightmare. Behind my dash I had EDFC wiring, Parrot Bluetooth, Kenwood Vehicle dynamics, Kenwood voice command package...argh...

I ordered my 5120 tonight!

649...

It was an impulse...might've been able to get a better deal on it. There've been complaints about the interface...but my AVIC N1 interface was so bad that I couldn't stand it any longer...esp with the Ipod. I like the 5120 for the Garmin nav and easy to use Ipod interface.

The new AVICs look promising though. Let us know what you think of it when you get it!

OK this is a really retarded question but I'm hoping you guys can help me. I have aftermarket component speakers as well as two 10 inch subwoofers with amps. The DNX 5120 I ordered seems to only have output spots for FRONT AND REAR, where as the 7120+ has FRONT, REAR, and SUBWOOFER.

Is this something I have to worry about given that I have amps and subs?

You are going to have to use the rear outputs for your subs, which means your subs will fade with the rear speakers. Kinda sucks since you won't have subwoofer level control without going back and adjusting the gains on the amp.

Better yet, if your front speakers are better than the rears, I'd slave the sub off of the front speakers so you can use the fader to turn down the rears since they will probably distort first.

Or you could just scrap the rear speakers all together and run the fronts off the deck and use the rear pre-out for the subs, which would give you independent fade capability. The 4" rear locations are pretty much garbage anyways.

Hope I'm not thread jacking...sorry. Thanks for the useful information. I just feel like a retard for buying this unit.

Anyone want to take it off my hands?

Sorry, G-Rex -- I sold it for 660 including a Kenwood Ipod cable.

I finally got my DNX 7120 installed. I haven't gotten to play around with it much. I will post a review soon.
