Default Kinda Sorta How-To: Gold foil

I lined my intercooler etc. with gold foil to reflect heat. I just finished and I don't feel like making anything else in terms of threads/stories right now, but I do have a cardomain page on it right now. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2754976/5 . I will, in the future, make something with better instructions/more pictures to make it more of a how-to, but not tonight or this week, maybe when I do my intake heat shield because it will be much easier and I will be able to do a write-up after that. But for now, Enjoy as much as you can.... I have no results as far as the modification itself, but I don't care at this point, It can't hurt to have it on, I'm just glad the job is done, it took me a good portion of an afternoon to take the intercooler out and put the gold on, and up until around 7 to reinstall and clean up. All in all I am happy things went well.

Thats strange, I've never seen that before. Is that only on my site or is that for all of cardomain?

Did anyone try using this gold foil under the stock turbo heat shield (not the SPT cover)?

or

Yeah, I bought mine from CDOC. It sticks like tape, really sticky tape, apply with care. I haven't taken down any real data. The weather has been up and down, but not the same. What I can say is if you want to drive really hard, then stop and touch your turbo heat shield (I'm speaking of the SPT shield) right after, you can do that without burning yourself. I am buying more, I wish I had a strut tower bar, I would cover that, I have a feeling that would be the most functional use for this stuff. For 70 bucks though, I don't care that much if it doesn't do a whole lot. In the right application I think it would work better. Like grand am daytona prototypes. And that picture from the "moon" is fake, but if thats what it takes to beat the russians. Dominic Toretto once said, "It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winning's winning." In this case we won, but not by 239,000 miles.

why would you want to keep heat off your strut tower bar?

isnt it obvious??? not to overheat the strut tower bolts, so during spirited driving the coilover doesnt pop off of the car!
