Default Install Guide: Zero/Sports Roll Center Adjusters

Hello again from EDO Performance!

Today we have for you an installation guide for the Zero/Sports Roll Center Adjusters. They are being installed on a 2006 STi, but the procedure will be the same for any other compatible Subaru.

The Zero/Sports Roll Center Adjuster is a ball joint extender for use on the Subaru WRX/STi. When you lower your car with springs or coilovers, you alter the vehicle’s suspension geometry out of its optimum range.
The Zero/Sports extended ball joints help return the suspension geometry to its ideal position while still allowing you to lower your cars center of gravity. (mention 1 sec of time)

1. First you will need to get the car in the air. You will need jack stands or a lift as you will be taking the front wheels off.

2. Remove the front wheel and look at the suspension components behind the brakes. Remove the end link bolt that connects to the sway bar. The picture shows a Cusco sway bar and Kartboy end links, a stock end link can be removed with an allen key and a 14mm wrench.

3. There are two bolts that hold the ball joint you will be replacing in place. One of these is kept from turning by a cotter pin. Remove the pin however you can (bending, pulling, cutting) and then remove the nut and bolt circled in the picture.

4. Pull down on the A-arm until you have enough clearance to remove the old ball joint from its seat. Sometimes the old washer gets stuck to the A-arm, make sure it is removed.

5. The new ball joint includes a plastic cone piece. Place this piece narrow side down into where the ball joint will sit in the A-arm (make sure the original cone came out with the old ball joint). Secure the new Zero/Sports ball joint to the A-arm using the supplied washer, nut and cotter pin (22 ft/lbs). Bend the ends of the pin around the nut. Lift the A-arm up to seat the new ball joint into the same location the old one was in and secure it with the same 14mm bolt (37 ft/lbs).

6. Reattach the end link to the sway bar where you disconnected it earlier (33 ft/lbs).

7. Repeat these steps for the other side of the car.

8. Congratulations, your Zero/Sports Roll Center Adjusters are now installed! As with any other part that modifies the suspension geometry, it is always a good idea to have your vehicle’s alignment checked by a professional.

The Zero/Sports ones are a little taller than the whiteline ones, increasing the amount of adjustment that is made.
