Default Please help with trunk solenoid install for Viper 791xv

So I have a viper 791 xv installed on my car for a couple years now. It was installed by a place in Mobile, AL and honestly the guy didn't do a very good job. I went back in later and connected the neutral safety switch for the remote start so my car wouldn't remote start while being gear. So everything has been working fine since then. For some reason I decided to use channel 4 to add a trunk solenoid to my car. I installed the solenoid while I was swapping out my trunk so that was pretty painless. I had to installed the solenoid with a relay because of the negative voltage sent by my alarm. So I ran the signal wire and solenoid power wire to the where the alarm is installed and tapped in on one of the power wires going to the alarm. I checked the wire before connecting and it was 12V constant. When I tried to use the remote nothing happens now. The alarm won't arm or disarm. My guess is that tapping the alarm power wire was probably a bad decision considering the solenoid probably puts a pretty good load on there when it triggers. I know all of this is pretty vague and it's hard to tell anything without seeing the car. I guess where would be a better place to connect the solenoid to the battery. It already has an inline fuse in the power wire. I tested the voltage at the relay and it's still getting 12V. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks
